What would you say is the best asian brand bat (SS,MRF,SG eg) ?
Or which is the best brand ?, good to know of people who use them ......, as i'm thinking of buying one as I see some good prices on them.
Thanks

given that MRF are a tyre company, I go for SS, but SG are great bats as well
-
MRF are a brand. I like RNS Larsons.

Depends what you're after, profile wise I don't really like any of what the mainstream Indian brands offer to consumers. Pakistani bats I prefer the profiles. However finish isn't as good as their Indian counterparts. BDM are probably the best of both worlds mainstream wise.
Which brands were you looking at?
-
For me, the SS and BAS the best bats from India. From Pakistan I believe CA comes at the top followed by AS,MB and AM.

Asad

I agree with Tom...depends on the profile you are looking for. Profiles are different among the brands but also across the models within a brand. As a general rule, among the ones I have used, SS, BAS, BDM, RNS Larsons are the best (probably in that order). I'd stay off SG given how much alternative choice you have. They can be quite good if you have access to the factory and get to select the willow (e.g players like Sehwag and Laxman) but not great off-the-shelf... maybe too busy filling out orders for ....
Among the bats from Pakistan, my fav is MB Sher which I rate over the AS V3. Never used CA or Ihsan.
All the above are excellent bats but the "best" probably depends on your preferred profile.

Well having looked, I found the CA 10000/8000 to look good cosmetically, and the overall AS V3 to be good (having read these cricket forums)
-
Personally I've used both SS and BAS and found them to be superb and better than many others I've tried, I've also used MB and they are also very good. One bit of advice is be careful where you buy any Asian brand from Pakistan or India as there are many fakes and low grade stuff being sold as top ew. Plenty of people on here can point you in the right place for brands like I've mentioned.

Not sure what budget you are looking at but around the 130-140 pound mark SS Ton LE and the BAS Bow 20/20 are unbeatable. If you like the sub-continental shape (lowish middle, thick edges, bowed blade) the quality of these bats is outstanding in terms of rebound, pick-up and willow cosmetics. Even the finish is quite acceptable.
You can go higher in the range e.g the SS Ton Matrix or the Gold Edition but the incremental value doesn't justify the incremental price, I feel. Also, at those prices you are within spitting distance of getting custom made with Redback, Warsop etc. which is useful if you know your game well to truly benefit from going custom.
At an even lower price (approx 110 pounds I think but not sure) the SS Ton Ranger is awesome... as is the MB Sher Amin. Or the BDM Dynamic Power.

I've seen some really nice SS Yuvi's, not too keen on the indian bats such as BAS, mesmorised by all the grains on the CA's etc
-
BAS for me.
SG have always made good quality bats, but have not done their reputation much good over the past couple of years as they a heavily into contracting business for Kookaburra and Adidas and hence not much focus on expanding / strengthening their brand.
SS are equally good. They only thing is that SS is much more popular due to the sheer numbers/volumes and have a loads of low grade willow bats in the Indian market and their prices are cheaper than SG.
BAS are small but that has it's advantages. There is more focus on quality. It would be right to say that they are quality driven rather than value/volume driven, which for me makes all the difference as a customer.
I have used SS for about 12 years and recently only converted to BAS and would stay with them.
Never used CA but hear they are good.
Those interested in grains and huge profiles can get those from any small time company, but the real skill is to make a quality bat which will perform and deliver the expected results.
At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. If you want a big brand top grade bat you pay £220-£270. If you want a top grade bat from a not so big brand - £150-£200
Top grade bats from BAS, SS, SG, BDM, MB, AS, AM companies - £110 - 175.
(I would like to use a CA once, but £180 for a Plus 12000 or Plus 10000, is way off the mark)
PS: Sorry to go off the topic, but has anyone bought a bat from Sportshq? Especially a CA. The have CA Plus 10000 for £99!!
-
I bought a CA 10000 Plus from the sportshq for £99 last year that was an absolute gun. If you buy one don't just order one online as someone will just pick one up in the warehouse as they are all labelled by weight on their edges, e-mail them and ask Nick Warren to contact you back as he chose my bat which was 2lb 6oz with loads of grains and a huge profile for the weight and said they were usually reserved for pro's (or so he said!) - apparently he used to be on Warwickshire's books so knows what he is on about! To save a bit more money they also quite often have voucher codes for,for example, 10% off so if you search in google for Sportshq voucher codes you may find some.
Thought sportshq were good but then ordered a grip from their website which in the picture was a ribbed CA one as I specifically wanted a ribbed one, yet a plain chevron one arrived so I told them they had made a mistake but their attitude was you asked for a grip and you have got a grip. They told me that according to their terms and conditions you don't necessarily get what the picture shows on their website so tough. Only a grip I know but thought their customer service in this instance was shocking so just beware you might not get what you think you are going to get from the picture on the website.

I'm not really into asian bats but i've heard a lot of good review about CA bats.
-
I loved my sg until it broke on me last thursday. Top bats with good ping. Also used a junior sg for a mess about in the nets when i was coaching some younger lads and that seemed to be a top bat too.
-
One of the guys I used to play alongside used to use CA bats and they always looked absolute belters! ......having said that he could probably of made a stump look good lol ....some people have far too much talent :-)

I've got an Ihsan which I think is really good.
