Title: Postage and packaging

I am wanting to get my bat sent off to be refurbed for the coming season. I've never sent a bat off before so I need some advice. What I would like to know is, how do you wrap your bats up and who do you use? Royal mail or a certain courier. Also, what's a reasonable to be paying for delivery?

I tend to use citylink through P4D.co.uk. I used to send Special Delivery but I find it seems to be a bit hit and miss as to which Post office will let you send a bat via SD because of it's length. I have been refused SD a number of times because of this yet I receive bats that have been sent SD?!

The courier costs me more but is less hassle where I am!

I use Royal Mail Special Delivery at £9.05 but only from Post Offices I know will send. For cheaper service use Collect Plus at £4.99.

Royal Mail are rubbish unless you use their Special Delivery service, which is more expensive.

Have used ParcelMonkey previously, but have just discovered My Hermes who I'm tempted to try

Ok thanks for all the replies. How should I protect the bat? Would a bat cover be adequate? Sorry if I seem a bit thick :-[

Johnny myHermes is very good I used it to send car parts when I stripped a few!

And Junter just plenty of bubble wrap and a bat box if you have one :)

City Link have just put their prices up, so has made the decision to go to myhermes all the easier. Longer delivery time but the prices just cant be beat.
Also you can link myhermes to your ebay account

It looks like I will be using my Hermes then at £6.41 it does seem a good deal! Just need to decide how to package it as I don't have one of those cardboard bat boxes

Plenty of bubble wrap and then brown parcel paper works well too.

i use interparcel, but recently just been using the post office as i cant be dealing with waiting in all day for the postie to turn up

Used the post office next day delivery £9.05 and insured for up to £500. Tracking number to check. Sent some wicket keeping gloves for refacing using same. I think the stuff gets signed for as well.
Bat in a box, plenty of bubble wrap and parcel tape, jobs a gud un.
