I don't have as many clips as Liam, basically due to me being the most unorganised person in the world and losing my memory stick with earlier video's on.
But first I want to do back foot, As you can tell from my first video I was not very technically correct, but in the other video (a year on), I think that my back foot technique had a grown a bit and began to look a bit better.

Then in 2011

Now onto the front foot, I would say I am mostly a front foot player, however close myself of when playing through leg-side.

I will try to get a budding cameraman and get some video's of me at this moment in time. But criticism is welcomed along with some help would be great! :)

Hi mate, one quick point on a fair few of your shots, in 2010 you were making a confident back and across movement with your back foot, but leaving your front foot behind, this squares your shoulder up and can lead to lofted shots, but in 2011, you seem to have rectified this by making a smaller movement and then squaring up, I would suggest that you need to stay side on and still make that confident back and across movement to almost outside off, but otherwise you look solid mate, hit some nice shots!
p.s. sorry for the essay lol

I know, whenever I play on the back foot I always seem to open myself up, even if I like ghost demonstrate. Whatever I do I just can't seem to get out of the habit.
-
I know mate, I had the same problem, but my coach made me do 10 press ups for every time I wasn't far enough across
-
10 press ups will definately make me get side on when playing on the back foot!

To be honest your technique changes for the front and back foot bowling machine shots and it is difficult to work out what is your natural style.
when you trigger in some of your front foot shots you trigger about 10 seconds too late and it messes with your technique, but when you don't trigger on the back foot shots, you don't get your weight through the shots.
so my suggestions are - work out a consistant, comfortable stance - I would probably have a little more flex in your knees - to help you get more onto the balls of your feet. Ditch the trigger movement for the time being - work on your stance with some throwdowns
then as you build up into your shots work on getting your weight through the shot. This will help staying side on.
having a better feeder on the bowling machine will also help - but try mixing up the short balls and the full balls as this will stop your premeditation and help your weight transfer.
oh and watch the ball a little longer, you seem to drop your head and look at the floor rather than the ball a little - so keep your head up.
Can I make one thing clear though - these are really minor changes to what I consider is a solid technique...

I don't usually trigger though, in the video I seemed to because I just wasn't getting close enough to the ball on connection, so I thought to help this I would put a trigger in just to help me get more across. I don't use any trigger at all now.
But thanks for the help Buzz, I will look to watch the ball longer and also look to stay more side on when playing on the backfoot :)

the key to staying side on is to not let your back foot move as you play the shot but to keep your weight going forward...
easier said than done
-
Cheers buzz. I shall give this a go! :)
-
Start off with some really, i mean really wide, so that you have to go back and across with your weight forward, btw, where is that?

St Osmund's Sport Centre, in Dorchester :)

Looks like somewhere i used to play, not in Dorchester though!
