Title: Tabata Training
Post by: tommo256 on March 30, 2012, 10:12:10 AM
Hello Guys,

Just thought I would do a topic on this, I am currently enduring tabata training which was found by some Japanese dude, i think. It is basically 20 seconds of exercise and then 10 seconds off, It sends the muscles into overload and improves strength, endurance and more importantly for a portly fella like myself helps fat loss.

If anyone wants to try it, I would recommend it, it makes you work hard and tests strength to the limit.

Cheers

isn't that very similar to "fartlek training" where you run in short bursts at 100% then rest and repeat?

I'm doing some mma sessions atm which seem to be working, feel fitter and shifting some punds i think. hour and a half sessions which push you to the limit, jab cross sprawl is a killer, basically 2 punches then jump down into a sort of press up position and jump straight back to feet then repeat for what feels like an hour haha. Missed it wednesday gone for a party so next week may be even more of a struggle  :(

Fartlek training is where you do the activity at varying intensity's with no rest

Yep, it is, and thus it's different from the Tabata methods, which is a form of HIT, which basically is no better than "normal" methods, but does increase the chance of injury... some people prefer it though, because its "easier" for them to do, or some times in gyms looks like there can lift big weights etc...

if you're constantly sore after exercise, your doing something wrong...
