Title: The £200 Kit Challenge!
Post by: WABH-J on March 30, 2012, 10:28:30 AM
Hello All,

This may well bomb but I think it'll be rather fun! The Challenge is to try and make up as good a set up as possible on a budget of just £200, think of it like a top gear challenge where they're tasked with buying cars for £1,500. Here are the rules:

- Budget is £200 tops however it does not include a delivery cost (within reason...no importing!)
- New kit only, no secondhand / classified ads!
- Your essential items are Bat, Pads, Gloves and Bag bonus points for extra items such as helmets or spikes etc. Bats must be Adult size (SH or bigger!)
- You must provide links to each individual item as provenance of your findings.

-The idea is to get as good as quality set up as possible for £200. The rest of us will then comment and judge your choices. Bonus marks awarded for colour coordinating/matching kit!

I'll start as an example...

Bat: Newberry Mjolnir 5 Star: £120

http://www.prodirectcricket.com/Products/Newbery-Cricket-bats-Mjolnir-5-Star-Grade-Two-Natural-Finish-Short-Handle-Black-Yellow-14838.aspx

Pads: Dukes Hyper-tec pads: £20

http://www.morrant.com/cricket_batting_pads/dukes_hypertec_cricket_batting_legguards/104073_p.html

Gloves: Dukes Hyperlite gloves: £25

http://www.morrant.com/cricket_batting_gloves/dukes_hyperlite_cricket_batting_gloves/102259_p.html

Bag: Slazenger V60 Club Holdall: £16

http://www.sportsdirect.com/slazenger-club-v60-holdall-850059

Which would give me £19 for bonus items...

Dukes Thigh Guard £5

http://www.morrant.com/cricket_extra_protection/dukes_double_century_thigh_guard_long/48075_p.html

and Slazenger Icon Spikes £12

http://www.sportsdirect.com/slazenger-icon-cricket-shoes-mens-142028

Which would even give me £2 spare  :o

As you can see I have deftly colour matched my gloves and bat handle, and my pads and gloves are the same make...massive points multiplier!

It's just for fun but let's see what you can come up with!

atb,

Will
