At nets last night one of the lads gave me these gloves

Now I've identified that they are Slazenger and have Alan Knotts signature on them. They differ from the classic slazenger in design and have no buckle strap as in other models.
I've never seen this model glove before and then

Is this web still legal and finally

They need a bit of TLC but the leather is very supple

They are Red and White Slazenger wicket keeping gloves.

You reckon they're Wymers work again Simmy? I think you could be right :)
-
Joe, thanks for stating the f'''''''''''''''''''''''n obvious I had worked that one out for myself..........lol
-
I would have to agree with simmy. Look nearly identical to the ones he made you. Although I would say the webs aren't legal anymore...

i dont know how much production went on but seeing as slazanger factory was in the uk,
and geoff is old and worked there for many years and the gloves look like the same style as he makes now id be supprised if he didnt

Looking at the laws of the game in relation to the webbing I think some trimming with a sharp blade will bring them back into line. I think. ;)
-
Without even trying I think I have at least three pairs of Wymers gloves, amazing.
Now I have two pairs of 'Bob Taylor' gloves which I know were not made by Wymer...............................unless he worked in India :D
-
So I thought I was being clever with a quirky line about Wymer working in India.
So I was busy checking the gloves over, have even trimmed the web so it complies with rule 40 whatever and then I notice that little label inside that states MADE IN INDIA.
So unless Mr Wymer went through a phase of being Singh Wymer then the gloves are as Joe so rightly pointed out 'Red and white Slazenger wicket keeping gloves'
knew that lad would go far sticker designing and a sense of humour. :)
So I have a cheap imitation pair of gloves but they are one of the most comfortable supple gloves I've ever put on, so they're off to John Copus for refacing in black pimples and then a bit of use on the 21st April which is my first game.
Unless Simmy, you tell me that Wymer worked in India making counterfeit gloves lol
-
i very much doute he worked in india mate haha
check all your gloves mate see if they all say that?
-
The other two pairs of Slazengers are like me, made in England.

Trimmed the web down to this

I think they will be okay now ;)
