Title: Bradbury VS
Post by: Milky Bar Kid on April 06, 2012, 03:35:33 PM
Went to the nets this morning. Sticking out of the bin was an old bat handle, gold grip. Knowing the sort of people that go over there, thought it was a cheap gm Luna from sports direct so thought nothing more of it. Just as I was leaving I decided to take a look. On top of the handle was a Bradbury sticker, I nearly wet myself in excitement. Pulled it out and to my surprise it was all there. The only thing that was missing was the toe insert. Despite the numerous cracks I think after some tlc it could be a lovely net bat. So basically any suggestions on what to use for the toe insert would be really appreciated.

Put some pictures up mate :)

Might be worth sending it somewhere for a refurb and a new toe insert as you got it for free mate

I'll try and take some pics now. The cracks look bad but seeing as most of the wood is still there I don't think it's too bad. Seen a mates bat last well over three years with worse damage.

If you think it's going to last you a while it's worth it mate as you got it for nothing :)

Feel free to tell my I'm wrong, I was going to make a new insert, glue it all, clamp it and then sand down. Only really want to use it as a net bat. Off the mallet it sounds amazing.

Are you sure it is a Bradbury?  Does it have the stamp on the side?

I ask for two reasons.

1 - I think (and I may be wrong) that the back sticker is on the wrong side.

2 - I got done with one a year or so ago.

Mines picks up well and pings very nicely, but it's not a Bradbury. Luckily I did not pay that much for it.

I only started this thread because I thought I got lucky finding it in the bin lol. With regards to the back sticker, from the pics I've seen the sticker is probably in the wrong place however I think at some point it was refurbed and the stickers were replaced with cheap eBay ones. It does (or did) have a toe insert and the profile and square edges make me think it is a genuine. I had a little go at a refurb just as practice for other bats. Yet to find any hardwood though to replace the toe.
