Indoor cricket like what you see in that youtube clip has been around in Australia since the late 1970's when I first played it during winter.

It boomed in the mid 1980's when there was an indoor centre in practically every cluster of suburbs.

It is still going strong, I played a season last winter.

Indoor cricket is brilliant. I used to play and work at the indoor centre in Worcester for years before it closed and changed into a bowling centre. Great game, very fast paced and keeps your eye in over the winter and great for your fielding skills. No coincidence that my little village team won their mid week league 3 years in a row while we had a team playing there all winter.
It was very competitive at the top level. I opened the batting with David Leatherdale for my team and regularly played against the likes of Steve Rhodes, Richard Illingworth and other county players. Real shame it closed, miss not playing and way better than just nets. Still some centres about, mostly up north I think.

I'm gobsmacked that you guys haven't seen this before. This used to be huge here in Aus.

Junior teams, mixed men/women teams, men's teams, womens teams. Games on every night of the week. You could go down to the centre and get a game any night you wanted to

Is there a market for it here?

Looks like it's 8 a side and in a very small playing area.

I've only played 6 a side in a full size sports hall.

Action cricket has been in AUS and SA for a long time now, it is played with many leagues ranging from company mixed teams, kids teams and vairous mens and womans teams, every night of the week the centers are full of folk playing.

its faced paced and full of colour which makes it better IMO than indoors in england, also a pair of slightly padded gloves and a box is all you need when batting. And another great thing about it is every center has a sports bar.

This is without a doubt the best way to play cricket indoors.

Yes don't know why it closed down here. It was packet out most nights of the week when at its peak in Worcester. The fact you only run halfway makes a massive difference and increases the speed of the game, unlike 6 a side where its quite difficult to rotate the strike easily. Lot of my mats would love to play it if it started up again. Definite market out there for it.

That looks incredible! There should definitely be a market for that here. Looks much better than indoor imo.
