Hi All,
I got this little beauty of E bay for only £24.00p it weighs 2.7Lb and has made in Australia on the top of the handle. And the shoulders are very unusual as I have never seen shoulders on a bat like this before. Below are some photos and info from bat makers or any Ozzie posters much appreciated.

Reckon its about 7 years old. I've seen a few like this before
-
yeah it looks like a 2005 model like gilly used to use but made in Australia and the weird shoulders wondering if its an early Millichamp Australian Puma bat?
-
Geraint Jones used one very similar in the 2005 ashes I think! :)
-
I've got one at home but mines a different shape and I'm sure the shoulders aren't like that

Gilly in 2005 Ashes, 'Castrol' advert where the rest of the grey labels should be?

Yeah it's a strange one I might drop Julian millichamp an email though a guy I work who is an ex Somerset pro tells me it's made by millichamp as he has seen him do shoulders like that before in the past. And I have never seen an Australian made puma before I was hoping some one on the forum might shed some light on it!!! Thanks for the help so far guys I really appreciate!!!

Looks a big bat for 2.7 and a great shape - right up my street.
Top find!
-
Quite looks like Julian's work, won't be surprised if he made this.
-
I'd be quite surprised if it was Millichamp made, pretty sure he left Puma well before that!
-
These are 05 stickers, Julian had left Puma by then.
Possibly Sam Miller or Ben Thane, they were both doing work of some form for Puma Aus at that point.

Now of BT Blades. Nice bats fairly cheap too

Well I read his autobiography and states in it as spins as he toured to England with the ozzy squad he bought millichamp and hall bars and put his sponsors logos on them and he says in it he signed for puma as they bought millichamp and hall and created the ozzy puma/millichamp and hall company. I have never seen this profile on a puma or shoulders shaped like this bats are, just hoping you guys could shed some light in it before I e mail Julian millichamp!!!!
-
Thanks for that Tom I have never heard of those guys any contact details for them?
-
Sam Miller is at Masuri/Bradbury UK, Ben Thane is at BT Blades.
-
Thanks for that Tom but have you seen shoulders like this before? I know some shoulders like lavers easily make a manufacturer of the bat definable.

Hunts County do a similar thing

Beat me to it. It's where it's rotated on a small drum sander. Seen tony at hunts do it on a few bats I've seen him make

Well I have spoken to Julian Millichamp and what a nice guy got back to me straight away and he informs me that he as in Gilly used the Puma classic bat just about his entire career, read from this what you want but I guess maybe the shape of his bats stayed the same and the labels changed perhaps over time. Julian asked for some photos of the bat which I have e mailed to him and he will let me know as I guess he used to make Gillys bats and would know his own workmanship or not.
-
I thought Gilly said in his autobiography that his bats were Muelemans...?
It's all cloaks and daggers, I guess... not worth the speculation.
(I know that this post is speculation, but it's early :))
-
Nah he clearly states in true colours his autobiography page 302 he had been using millichamp and hall bats stickered up as puma bats for a couple of years and he was delighted when puma bought millichamp and hall in 2001/2002 cricket season and he reckons most pros were using millichamp and hall bats stickered up back then.

Thanks for the info (and page ref, very thotough :))
