Title: Sweeping
Post by: adam1312 on April 14, 2012, 05:50:47 PM
I can play the sweep but find getting into position slow. What can I do to get into position quicker so I have more time to play the ball, and am better balanced

Practice seems like an obvious answer to helping you get into position quicker. If you have some spare time at home, just strap on some pads and practice getting your body in the right place to sweep, it should become more natural and you'll be able to get into position better in matches.

There's some good youtube videos regarding sweeping.. along the lines of starting with tennis balls thrown with you down at the pitch of the ball working back towards getting down into position and this should help a bit but I think practice after a good warm up and stretch is probably key too... the other thing I remember is to use the speed of the ball bowled rather than generate power into the shot, which would avoid mis-timing it...
