Hi Guys,
A Punjabi mate of mine brought me back a gift from Punjab in the shape of this brand new SS Limited Edition.
Tapped it up with the mallet and it has more ping than a Chinese phone book!
11 grains, unblemished and beautifully finished.
I have extrateced it, edge taped it and also shoe gooed it.
I have put on a white grip as I love white grips.

Bat looks lovely, also like the liquor collection :)...not sure about how many pings are in the chinese phone book though :D
-
Over the years in my line of work people give me bottles of liquor as token of thanks and I collect them...because I don't drink alcohol!
They look good as props in my lounge/dining room!
-
Stunning love that.

I need to switch jobs :), what do you think of the pads?
-
lovely bat, how much it weighs?
-
Bat looks lovely. Really like the flat toe as well, don't know why haha
I didn't know they did a flat toe though.
-
Bat weighs a shade over 2.8.
Pads weigh 613 grams and are kind of similar to the GM RSB's, but with more protection/padding and thus the extra 88grams (which is next to nothing).
-
bat looks lovely.
-
I really like the shape of that bat... really nice stick.. love the flat face and the toe looks good to, does make it look more like a plank thou :D
But very nice indeed
-
Very good stuff! Like the gloves actually, do they have pittards?
I'm assuming those gloves are similar to SS Test ones, right?
-
What have you done to the toe of the bat vic?

That would be shoe goo.
-
That looks lovely! especially for the weight - really dislike the shape of the toe though.

No Pittards.
The leather on the palm is the softest I have felt since the Newbery SPS gloves.
Excellent quality.

Bat pads and gloves all look tops, just not a fan of the square toe
must add those pads look very similar to the bb ones, which are also very nice ;)
-
Almost exactly the kit I'm thinking of buying. Although I'm not sure on the look of the pads. How do they feel when on?
The bat looks like a beauty, especially for 2.8lb. How big are the edges?
-
Aussiejake, welcome to the forum mate :)

Pads are light as...BB make identical ones...Canners would be able to confirm! :)
The edges are 37mm.

That's a really beautiful bat.......1 of the best looking SS bats I have seen....
The pads & gloves look good 2....

Thanks SD...it is much, much better than I could have expected.
Not only is the willow unblemished, the pressing technique SS use means that it is beautifully responsive.
I have 2 GM Icon LE's and this is better than both of them cosmetically and response wise.
I really don't know why I never considered SS before...but now, I have had a major rethink.
-
Wow awesome 2.8 and 37mm edges, thats a quality stick good luck
-
Had a 20 minute net with the bat yesterday.
The pressing on the bat is superb...it seemed that everything I hit rocketed off the bat.
The bat seems to have a long middle. This slightly effects the pick up in that I am used to extremely light, high middle pick up bats, but the trade off is a very large hitting zone on this bat which means that you do not have to actually hit the exact middle to dispatch the ball to all parts. It is a very forgiving bat because of the long middle.
All up, it is as good a bat as I have ever handled and certainly the best non-custom made, mass produced bat I have ever seen/used.
-
So is this as good as the laminate you have?

The lam is not as forgiving in that you have to middle the ball to get good value for the shot.
Having said that though, if you DO middle it with the lam, it is sayonara ball! Nothing beats the middle of the lam.
Also, the lam has a much better pick up thanks to the master craftsman who shaped it. :)
As I mentioned though, the SS is the best "off the shelf", mass produced bat I have had in my hands performance wise.
A bespoke bat from one of the bat making Gods is, however, a whole other level excellence!
-
so you'l be wanting to try one of my SS shaped lams then :)
-
Shameless - utterly shameless

A lam in the SS LE shape is my definition of bat Everest.

Good enough for SRT ...

That bat's flaming gorgeous
-
Is it just me or does anybody else think Sachin has eaten a few pies recently???
-
He's still got unreal tekkers
-
I caught about 10 mins of him playing in the IPL tonight (by accident, any competition that Steve Smith can get a contract for can't be taken seriously!) The only thing that caught my interest was the bat pictured. It was absolutely HUGE! First time I've seen him using a bat with the TON branding on for a little while as well....
-
He used a Ton branded bat in some of his innings v England last summer, though he made more of an effort to cover it then, plus you may have missed it because he didn't use his bats for very long in the middle last year
