Title: My New Excel
Post by: jonkgray78 on April 18, 2012, 12:29:16 AM
Hi There

I bought this off Matt towards the end of last year, and unusually for me I have been patiently knocking it in (paid one of the bat mad colts at our club to do it!).  So at the beginning of this year it was finally ready for me to try out, and I was not disappointed.
The weight is approx 2.13 with toe guard, scuff sheet, and 2 grips.  The middle is not too high, so the pick up is what you would expect for 2,13, but I find if you love the look of a bat, it often feels a few ounces lighter when you pick it up ;).  For me, the weight and balance is perfect.
It has approx 15 grains, with a touch of heartwood on the right handers inside edge.  This is by far the best looking bat I have ever had, and has finally stopped me wanting other bats when I see them.  As with most Excels, there is no concaving, and the edges are not huge, but pretty big at 27mm (I think).

I have used it now a few times with the bowling machine (hence the marks) and at nets, and the bat just feels great.  The response/ping/rebound/bang/slap/wallop/bounce whatever you call it, is fantastic, makes me feel a much better batsman then I am, which is ultimately what I'm after from a bat!

Anyway the pics, I hope.

Matts service as you would expect was excellent.  I've just bought the new bag he has in stock, so I will post pics when I get that.

One very happy customer, now if only I was any good at batting

That is my ideal grain structure! Looks lovely - bit too heavy for me, but if that's the weight you go for I'm sure this won't disappoint
