Title: A face for Radio.
Post by: ProWannabe88 on April 25, 2012, 10:37:17 PM
To anyone that may be interested the Big man was the mystery guest today on the BBC radio 2 Chris Evans breakfast show. It was love your wood day, they wanted to speak to one of the best so got him on the blower.

IPlayer catchup and 2..10.30 in if you're wanting to listen. Will probably answer a few questions and just give a small insight into how he got started etc

I heard his name mentioned but didn't get chance to listen to it all. Good old "Listen Again".

I don't expect anybody to answer (although I'm sure lots will know) but I'm musing as to who used one of his bats during the ashes?  ???

Andrew Flintoff. He said it, but the interviewer was talking when he said it, so it was easy to miss. I had to listen to it a second time to get it.

Didn't he say that someone used his bats this winter ashes though. He also mentioned Courtney Walsh, did he make his bats too? Although he probably did make Freddie's as he used top of the range Pumas didn't he for a while, which would have been made by him as a Puma.

Was it Walsh or Ambrose, met Walsh at AJ Sports years ago and had a good chat, he gave me some of his jumpers which I still have, couldn't get over how long his arms were, he was nearly the same height as me but his arms were 10 inches longer. Met Ambrose at a Carib promotion, my mate was posing with him for a photo and he kept asking him to smile, he simply looked him in the eye and said "Curtley don't smile for no one...."

I guess it must have been Ambrose actually, because he said that he used a bat that was 2"longer than normal. And thinking about it, Ambrose was the taller wasn't he?
