hey, after looking at my bats im very confused to the grading of the wood! for instance i have 2 kookaburra bats one has 10 grains i then have one which only has 6 grains but what baffled me is the one with 10 grains was a heck of a lot cheaper than the 6 grain bat :s could anyone explain to me how the grading of bats work as i thought it went on grains?
Thanks guys

Does the one with 10 have a few blemishes on it? Is the 6 grainer a completely clean face with straight grains?

the only real difference i can see s that then 10 grainer does have what i think people call a butterfly mark on it?

That will be why it's a lower grade mate, butterflies, knots and any other blemishes lower the grade of the wood

Depending on who you talk to, different grades mean different things to diferent people.

To be honest I dont mind seeing a butterfly mark on a bat, sometimes the rebounds better out of the butterfly mark.
