Title: Batting In Trainers
Post by: adam1312 on May 06, 2012, 10:40:12 PM
When batting in spikes I feel stuck and unable to move quickly.
So when batting in trainers (not in wet/damp conditions) is it very slippy when going for singles and stuff?

What are good trainers to use for batting?

Have you thought about getting some trainers spiked up?

the spikes make me feel 'stuck' at the crease but without them I feel quicker on my feet. Would half spikes be better?

Blanks would be your best bet, I bat in them, good grip but you don't claw into the surface like with spikes.

Blanks or half spikes so you've still got a bit of grip on wet days

Spikes on wet days, tennis shoes on dry days for me, never slipped, and lets me run around like Jonty Rhodes when badly drunk.

How do you mark your guard though without spikes, as i am much like jonathon trott when at the crease and with wearing trainers would struggle with this!

A piece of chalk is good on artificial and I guess for a grass wicket too... just pop it behind the stumps so all batsmen can use it... probably saves the crease from being turfed up...

The chalk would be rubbed off every other ball though :( Would like an answer becasue would love to be able to bat in trainers however this problem stops me :(

I've seen players borrow a bail and hammer it in a wee bit with the bat handle to mark their guard.  Or you could just accept you're going to ruin your sneakers and use the side of your foot?
