Going through youtube videos I had a look at some bat making videos again and came across this comment on one of them which was only posted 3 weeks ago (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiyNeql7Jmg&feature=related).
"The Screaming Cat factory is situated at Unit 4, 16 Hook Street, Capalaba QLD 4157 and our postal address is P.O. Box 5723 Manly 4179. For all sales enquiries or any other information, feel free to call Julian direct on 61 3 417 098 723 or email by going to the web site in the video description." (It's also on the website - http://www.screamingcat.com.au/contact.html)
Looks like Julian has moved from Victoria. I may just have to go suss it out seeing as it is only a 30-40 minute drive from my place.

Yes, I spoke with Julian last month. He has indeed moved to a new location.

This is good news for me (potentially bad if you're my bank account, lol). His factory is right near me now.
Did he say why he decided to move? Other than Queensland obviously being the best state :D
-
No he did'nt mentioned it...

All good, I may just have to ask him myself :D

Yes, he was extremely busy setting up his new workshop. I just wished him success. The old location had a really nice rustic setting. Not sure how the new location is..

I went to his workshop when he was in in Daylesford in 2009, which was bloody awesome (grandparents lived around an hour away from there) and have wanted to go back ever since. Now he is up here, I'd be keen to book an appointment to go in again. Only problem was that the winter weather in Melbourne can get bloody cold.
I used to play junior footy games up near Redlands and Alex Hills, and it is a nice area, which is east of Brisbane. I'm sure he will go well up there. I live South side of Brisbane and his factory is only 30-40 minutes away from me.

I remember when I spoke with him, he did mention about his move.
I wish I lived that far from his place, I swear I would drop down everyday just to see him make bats and scrutinize. LOL!

I love these videos. Extra tempting after seeing this.

Oh muy God!!!!!
So tempted now

Since I'm moving house I have been going through my bats and seeing what I can cull (unfortunately!) pulled out my old screaming cats and tapped them up.....made me question why I stopped using them. They are amazing.....anyhow decided to go on the SCAT website and also saw he has moved to QLD...now that I'm moving to NSW :-( NOT COOL.
Seriously tempted to book in a time though and go and see him. The two customs he has done for me in the past have been a hybrid of his shapes....but would be great to just take one of them in and get it copied!
His bats are expensive but I love that he grades based on performance. And to be able to go in and watch one be made plus test it for rebound would be priceless I reckon!
-
Funny this comes up again as I am booked in to have mine made on the 29th :D
Now that I am working I forsee me spending a bit of money probably getting a few made, seeing as he lives all of 35-40 minutes away.
-
I'm jealous mate! Will this be your first SCAT? You won't be disappointed!

I'm really excited! Not my first one, but with this one I will have another bat with me as a reference for the weight (also to reference were I hit the ball the most). Last time I had a couple of issues with the weight, which was down to me being super excited.
-
I'm excited for you Langer considering the pain you went through last year with bat weights not being precise!
Are you going with totally custom shape or one of his shape?

Haha, cheers CD. Probably more down to me being really picky. I love my Blenheim bat though, been a bit slack and haven't put a review up yet.
Will probably be similar to one of his shapes, maybe a combination of 2. The bat will end up looking very similar to his series 4 shape I reckon. The best part is that I am bringing my old bat which is covered in cherries from our training balls, which are older match balls that have just been painted over in a nice bright orange colour, makes a mess of your bat but does show exactly where I hit the ball the most

Any news of your visit to his workshop Langer??
-
Come on Langer17. . . . .give us an update bud.
-
I think I read in another post somewhere he had to cancel and didn't go
-
Well thats dissapointing!
-
Unfortunately I did indeed have to cancel. The day before I was meant to go I managed to break 5 bones in my foot playing football. It was very disappointing, both from not being able to play for a little while (practically miss half the season) and not being able to have the bat made, but I will be re-scheduling once my foot is all healed up again.
-
Good to hear mate shame to hear about your foot hope it gets better.....broken feet are no fun at all broke mine a couple of seasons ago the bloody thing stayed swollen for 2 months before it got better!
