Hello Forum.
My MH Distinction didnt take kindly to removing the anti scuff face so a new bat was needed to replace the beast ........... so I decided to go for one of the Red BB bats.
I went for a couple of pounds lighter than normal at 2lb 9 and give another try to one of the thick edge bats, I had got a LE SS TON which was a very big disappointment. It put me off Indian made bats for good. Once i knew these bats English made i went for the plunge.
A day after Mr BB let me know the bat was in the post it arrived the very next morning.
I unwrapped the package and my initial view was that it looked like a nice bat. I have been known to instantly dislike a bat by just looking at it. (It happened to me a few years back when i order a very expensive bat from top batmaker. It came after being held up in customs for a few weeks only for it to be half white half brown ......... I had never really seen a heartwood bat before so i fired off an email to the bat owner letting him know i was disappointed with the willow when i bought a limited edition bat. In the menatime i fired off an email to a good friend of mine who is a well knwon pro and he told me i had just got a belter .... how embarrssing!! I then received an email from the bat maker saying they would gladly take it back but the bat was made and rejected by Jayasuiya because it was a little to heavy .... it went like a gun until i snapped it through some wekness as a result of a swollen toe from getting wet..)
Anyway I tapped up with a mallet and a new ball and it feels very nice, as good as any bat i have ever had .... Laver Wood (Jayasuriya bat), Redback, MH Distinction, B&S ( South African test player bat), County with the black stickers (Hansie Cronje's bat) Gray Nicholls ( Chanderpauls bat) and an SS Jumbo i got off Ian Austin, BAS Vampire bat (WI test player bat)
I instantly compared it to the SS TON LE and there is no comparison, this BB is a lot more responsive. I cant compare it to the Distinction but from memory it feels just as nice.
Once i get a chance to use it in a match, will spend a couple of weeks knocking it in, i will put up a proper update.
Pros
Nice balance
Nice grains
Nice profile
Great ping and rebound
superb price
Cons
The handle is the only problem i have and htat is only because it is different to the MH Distinction, so more of a personal issue than a problem with the handle.
score 9.5/10

Any pics GarrettJ??
-
We want pictures! Enjoyed reading your bat history. Sounds like a top bat, hope it serves you well.
-
only the 9.5 :(
i will make sure your next one gets the full 10/10 :)
-
nothing is perfect!!!
To put it in perspective i'd give the MH Distinction 9.75/10 ......... Canners you have seen the MH and it is a nice bat
The bat history is quite varied for me, i used to always make a point of getting a bat of our club pro and im fortunate to be very good friends with a few current and ex pros who i played junior cricket with. I also managed to get to quite a high standard myself so got to use some nice bats.
I did get a county insignia from Inter Sports once when i was about 18 and it was a superb bat.

Looks very nice! Hope it serves you well
Do you mind telling me what you didn't like of handle?
-
My MH which i had been using has a very oval handle and is quite thick, the BB one isnt as oval or as thick.
I have put on a second grip so it feels a bit thicker.
There is actually nothing wrong with the handle just different shape to what im used to. Im pretty sure some people would hold the MH and thick the oval handle is too much.
Give it a few more nights in bed with my BB and the handle will feel great.
-
Ah I see ; I had thought your BB handle was a bit too thick for you lol.
Good to see another one who likes thick handles! :D
-
Cd yours has plenty of girth................

Cd yours has plenty of girth................
and the bat
(sorry I know I'm childish)
-
I set that one up nicely ;)
-
haha the .... made me do it!
-
Hehe, mate you have no idea how desperate I am to get hands on it :(
-
The bat will be going for its first runs tonight in a 16 over bash!!
-
im expecting at least a 50 from you mate :)
-
Oh I like the sound of that! Are these bats magic then?
-
only if the gf kisses them before they go out the door ;)
that service is extra of course :)
-
turned out it was a 12 over match.
i
34 runs and then bowled off my pad agan!!!!!!!! Happened to me last season to balls fired into my leg stump. Seems like i am planting my foot on middle and playing across the line instead of on driving.
Back to the bat.
The bat was nice, didnt hit a single one in the middle though, the pitch was very two paced, shooting low or rearing up.
My homemade oval handle was ok as well.
Hit five fours and was out in the 6th over.
Match at the weekend if it is on, hoping for a century.
-
Good luck tomorrow fingers crossed for that century
Hopefully you will find the middle :)
-
Match was cancelled!!
Feel really out of form and have only held a bat twice since september so went for a net with the BB and the camera.
The my performance on the video is shocking but the BB went well. No match this weekend so some more nets and some more videoing .... my stance/head position is awful and my hands/backlift seemed to have dropped to nearly the floor!!
-
The BB in action in the nets ......... went well off the bat
As mentioned above some issues with the batting.
I'd turn off the sound ..... the kid taping it is messing around. ... ... at one point one lad pulled his pants down ........... well thats my excuse for the shot on 45 seconds!!

Update on this bat ........ getting used to the handle and middle feels very very nice. Superb bat for £175. Got around 400 runs in 5 innings with the bat adn only out once.
I only use this bat on a weekend now to preserve it and use the RK custom for midweek matches or if it is a bit damp.
-
Certainly getting your money's worth there matey. Are you a pro??
That's a serious amount of runs.
It's really pleasing to know that you like the bat.

i play as a player/coach in a league i shouldnt really be in.
I played in a "warm up" international game for Bermuda 4 or 5 years back, I got 34 opening against West Indies. I also played some T20 games against some Caribbean countries (Trinidad, Grenada, Barbados) and missed out on the Stnaford 20-20 becasue i wasnt eligible through not being resident long enough (eventhough i was selected!!!!!!) and a triangular tournament with WI and England through injury. Needed a wrist operation which basically finished off my career at that level and age was catchign up on me.

Top work garrett, when you coming to play for my team
