I have a Newbery Uzi which I've used for both formats but interested in a TT which seems similar in terms of both being long handled with a shorter blade. The TT is advertised for both formats. Has anyone handled/owned both and could someone tell me if the TT blade is longer than the Uzis.
Secondly, does anyone rate the Newbery TT in terms of design and playability?

Interesting there mate as there was a lovely TT on Ebay today and I couldnt justify buying it as I had the same questions you did ;) and didnt have the answers.

Ahaaaa.. you and me both.. it went for 113 in the end so wouldn't have purchased it without an answer beforehand.. it's strange though as my Uzi has one of the best middles I've seen during my recent return to cricket including my Woodstock Curve Platinum XL but it'd be great to find out how many other forum members own a Newbery, which one/model and how they rate them against some of the great brands on here like Bulldog, Black Cat, Vulcan etc...

It didnt seem to be popular on this Forum and I remember only Mike and the Hosk owning one.
Apart from Zander de Bruin I dont recall any other pros using one.
If I bought it and didnt like it then I would struggle to sell it. Looked a good one too at 113 quid knocked in!

Not sure I'd have the same problem here in Prague as the bigger the profile the more they like it.. trying to sell classic profiles for strokemakers is very difficult as I'm discovering with bats I'm trying to sell on to compensate a couple of recent exciting purchases.. really shouldn't have been looking at it anyway but was intrigued at the design.. it's interesting though as someone quoted Newbery letting go of all their pros except perhaps for Murray Goodwin.. so If forum members aren't buying Newberys then who is?
There was a Newbery Tour that sold for 160 last week on ebay.. i think I'd have liked that...

The TT is a standard proportioned blade with the shoulder cut off to give a sloping effect. The reduction of them is maybe only an ounce reduction in weight but it will have an effect compared to before. The bats being made by Newbery are still in high demand, more than one of the WI players ordered bats in the Chalet when they were there last week.
-
Were they TT bats or the standard style of bats? Ive no doubt that many players are using stickered up Newberys but have yet to see the TT being a popular model.

I've seen the genuine TT shape used on the county circuit, not currently but the WI were ordering their shapes and spec's for Newbery to supply.

Thanks Talisman.. that's a great bit of inside info although the mystery of the popularity of the TT shape remains a mystery apart from those using it on the county circuit... an ounce doesn't sound too much in reduction of the shoulder but I like the idea.. I keep looking at the GT and the Tour too.... I really need to get to a supplier when back in the UK....
