I reckon he won't be in the starting 11...
-
England won't need more than three seamers + a bit of Trott, surely?
-
I think he deserves a place in the 11.
-
He has too. Otherwise I don't think the team looks balanced.
-
I'm not convinced. 5 FC 100s isn't great experience, even if he is young and in form. Also the Yorkshire Director of Cricket said on Sky the other day he didn't think he should get picked yet!
-
The Yorkshire Director of Cricket wants to get promoted...
-
they've already said he'll play so....

they've already said he'll play so....
Someone needs to step into Bopara's shoes.... ;)
-
what, get injured before the game?
-
i think he will play but im not sure he should be in the squad. he is definately one for the future but is he ready for test cricket? im not so sure. I hope if he does get his chance he does well but im just a little concerned that hes not had the time in first class cricket to give him enough experience at a great level. Luckily its only the west indies and not south africa he will be facing up. Even bopara can score a ton against them
-
the danger is more that he does get a couple of scores and then gets thrown to the wolves against the Yarpies later in the Summer. I really want to say that I can see him being ready for that challenge, but I'd be lying...
-
Onions will probably miss out

Onions will probably miss out
Yeah. But it's a 13 man squad, so you have to leave out another?
-
I think onions and finn/bresnan will miss out.
-
I think he might miss out in the first test and they will go for 5 bowlers and Prior at 6 but he will get a chance at some point in the series
-
Strauss
Cook
Trott
Pietersen
Bell
Bairstow
Prior
Broad
Swann
Anderson
Finn
No chance of them playing 5 bowlers IMO
-
Still not sure why Broad is deemed a guaranteed selection - would prefer to see Bresnan, Anderson and Finn take the three pace bowling slots.
-
But Broad looks lovely in the marketing photos...
-
sometimes seems that that is all he does mind...
-
Apparently he makes everyone a cup of tea in the dressing room
-
nah, thats Bell's job - passed down from his mentor at Warwickshire Ashley Piles!
-
Really? He has time left after practising his 'I'm terrified of doosras' face in the mirror?
-
JB top lad. Comes down and watches our t20's because his mates play for us. Umpired for us last season in a game. Gave a very dodgy LBW to his mate - batsman wasn't going to argue with him :-).
-
rather him than Taylor, i dont agree with all the hype surrounding him
-
Apparently he's playing at 6...
-
As long as Finn plays I'm happy
-
You may have a miserable few days.
-
He should do, picking Onions isn't going forwards. Finn will trouble the saffers, bed him in this series!
-
Finn and Onions wont play IMHO
-
We've got enough batting.... No need for Bresnan
-
Bresnan's probably got the best form going into the game! Recently took 5-for.
-
Finn bowled well in SL and really well in the ODI's over the winter, shouldn't be dropped
-
I agree. But form going into the test, I would say Bresnan.
-
Finn had wickets in D1, Bresnan's 5fer was in D2

Looks like Bairstows debuting and Bresnans playing
