Title: What's the most easily trasportable kit that you can get???
Post by: tim2000s on May 14, 2012, 07:49:31 AM
As I have mentioned previously, mid-week T20s can be played across London, and driving isn't really an option. This leaves public transport, to get to varying places from Wandsworth to Hackney, which is Bus, Tube and Train...

With this in mind, what kit can be selected that is the easiest to transport, i.e. what're the lightest Pads, Gloves, Thigh Guard, etc, and the most easily trasnportable bag?

I reckon it's a duffle bag with something like Morrant Ultralites, pretty much any gloves, an Ayrtek Raw and then I'm a bit stuck on the thigh pad, plus something like the Adidas SL22 boots, one of those microfibre towels and then small shower gel. I don't think that you'll get much difference between the various whites.

What would you pack?

Not bothered about the chos on the tube, it's the sometimes 1m+ walk from the tube/train station that I'm bothered about, and of course lugging it from work to the station too...

ah, my AERO wheelie is as light as anything even with four bats and all my coaching gear in it...

Wear your whites or your shirt at least. No one will bat an eye given some of the freaks on the public transport in London... This also means a shower is unnecessary, a student shower should suffice - if anyone sniffs afterwards on the bus, point at the bloke clutching a tinny wearing a parka whatever the weather.
Borrow a set of pads and a bat (you must be in credit on the bat loaning front...), take some gloves, thigh guard and a box. Should all fit in a rucksack. Job done :)

NOOOO!!!  Suggesting that it is EVER acceptable to turn up in your whites should result in immediate banning!  :D

Given the lack of changing facilities at Tooting Common and Millwall Park, sometimes turning up in your kit is the better bet...

Doesn't work at Wandsworth Common or Hackney Fields. Done that up at Highgate and also at Tooting.

I think you should just wear it all mate as it will probably get you a set on the Tube whilst donning your whites/pads/gloves and helmet...and if no one gives up their seat you can always lean on your bat!
