Hey Guys
Hope your all well and hopefully getting some cricket in with all this awful weather
Just wanted to see how many of you guys can relate to this... and if so why does it seem to be the case
I for one practise hard all week looking forward to the league game on Saturday, I check up on the opposition via play cricket and imagination how it went the season before
For some strange reason I just don't feel as good on Saturday as I do on Sunday even when the opposition is better on Sunday I just time the ball better, seem to find the gaps and score more runs
Is it pressure or is it a mental thing
I really do wish I scored my runs on Saturday and not Sunday
Just wanted your thoughts
Thanks
Kaz

I score about the same number of runs on both days at the moment... By the way, I never play Sundays

Generally it's mental. Is your Sunday side a League and does it hold as much prestige as your Saturday side? I'd guess it doesn't?
We were discussing this on Saturday, and the conclusion we drew was that generally players relax more on the Sunday matches as it isn't perceived to matter as much...

Good point Tim there does seem to be a more relaxed atmosphere on Sunday, we do play League on Sunday and the odd cup match depending how well we do so the quality of oppo is as good as Sat
Could be the pressure to perform on Sat and wanting to impress and do well maybe a point to prove
Whilst on Sunday I just go bat and not worry about getting out, but on Sat I do and always think I have to stay at the wicket and sometimes freeze get too defensive so when the rank ball comes I cant seem to get it off the square or hit it straight to fielders

It can depend I reckon, if you get hardly any on a saturday you can feel under pressure on the sunday. Whereas if you get a few on the saturday, you'll feel in great touch on the sunday!

I definately score more in sunday games as the standard is a lot lower.

I never hit sixes in competitive cricket. I hit loads on Sundays.
Usually;
Standard = Lower
Grounds = Smaller
Pressure = Non-existent
(Sometimes Bat = Bigger)
But I rarely play Sundays anymore.

I think I score about the same, but I score them very differently - on Saturdays I tend to score consistently, but rarely make huge scores. On Sundays, I fail more often but make some biggies. The reasons are probably the ones expressed by others at some length...

i played on saturday and sunday and scored mor on the sunday.
broke my bat on both days so maybe just a coincidence. guess will never know. could also have been the pitch or the amazing teas i had after the 1st innings :)

Tend to score more on saturdays, this is because the standard is much higher so i look to play myself in and get into a rhythm instead of getting myself out. I love batting in pressure situations and as a bowler/batter i come in at no.5 and i am a known run scorer in our 1st XI league.
Sundays however, standard lower so i think ooh i'll smash the bowlers about and due to lack of mental concentration get myself out normally.
Wickets on the other hand sunday i get 5fers a few times and sat 3-4 wickets hopefully :L

On Saturdays I generally keep and open for the 2nds so I concentrate hard and try to anchor the innings for my team.
On Sundays I'm captain so I bat lower down the order, have a bowl and generally give the youngsters a game. My 2nd highest ever score actually came on a Sunday but generally I'm not bothered about runs on Sundays.
