My apologies if this has been asked elsewhere before, but does anyone here use Ss bats, and how would you compare them with English made bats?

You will see more of them via the Hunts County connection, Mongoose, Piri Piri etc, I find them to be well made but not spectacular performance wise.

They seemed to have really taken off in the IPL.a lot if the players seem to ve using them. They look nice lol..I've learnt to never judge a bat by how pretty it looks. I normally go for 9 straight grains or more , my only bat I have left is my custom made GN has 14. Looking to get one more for the kitbag ..I'm impressed by Matt's at H4L. Great quality went there with Azhar back in dec.. beautifully made.

They must have pumped some serious cash to get the players they had, all PR and if it works they will boost sales....

I think they've been pretty clever. They are clearly looking to corner the Indian/Asian market and considering that it's probably by far the most lucrative i think i'ts a sound strategy.
Mike, from your experience, which Asian brand, big or small has provided the best performing bats?

I think they are all pretty similar, you could get an amazing bat from SS, SG, RNS, CA, AS and Malik.

Any specific one you'd recommend that's very consistent in terms of weight and quality of finishes?

That is the problem, they can make a great bat, but also the consistancy is lower than some UK manufacturers, it's a bit of a gamble, if I had to pick one I'd go for either a RNS Larsons or a AS based on better value for money.

Cool, thanks.
I'm not sure if it's just been my luck but the finishing on Indian bats have been a bit better than on Pakistani blades i've had. The handles on those were also pretty poor. i must admit that i probably prefer pakistani bat shapes to Indian ones, they seem to pick up a bit better in general.

The best finish I've ever seen was from FC Sondhi, pee'd all over UK bats, why this was not standard is beyond me, they'd clean up in the shops....

I reckon they just don't take enough time to finish everything perfectly. These guys churn out loads more bats per day than any of the UK batmakers but that's because they don't spend nearly as much time on finishing them off.
I went to India and saw what these guys can do. I had 10 bats made in a day and this dude still finsihed some more after mine!

They have the man power, they have the knowledge but they only do the minimum required, same as here I guess but we need to do more to finish a bat as we charge more....
