Gutted!!! >:( >:(
-
Which bat is it?
-
Not the blank bat :o
-
That happens with knocked in bats too, although it won't make you feel any better.
-
Oh no!! its the SCAT isn't it :o
-
I've cracked the toe of three nice bats so far this season and I did knock two of them in myself very conscientiously as I always do.. the one I did yesterday looks similar to the pics above.. but on the outside toe edge so my question is - is it serious?
I like to keep my bat faces clean and admire the grains and beauty of the willow so can understand how gutted you are but i'm wondering if i'm being oversensitive about cracks and whether I should just accept it's the nature of willow and that a crack doesn't necessarily mean.. nearing the end...unless it's the end!
The other thing i've been thinking about is whether a more expensive bat like my woodstock, hell4leather and bradbury, whose toes i've cracked are more susceptible due to the grade and performance post-pressing compared to cheaper bats.

SCAT it is :( :(
-
alot of my bats do this cos i dont knock any of them in lol
-
Don't worry mate. It happens to even to knocked in bats and is minor. keep an eye though.
-
CD and Praguetaz, I had a similar crack on the toe of a one of my bats abt 2 -3 months ago, since the crack is thin and you cant really lift the wood to get the glue in there Talisman amonst other members suggested using super glue on it and then to tape it up.
I got the gorilla super glue and used very very generous amounts on the crack and then taped it up. It is still going well with out any issues so hope it works for you guys.
-
I too used super glue and then basically used grip as a clamp. After that taped that area and applied Hammer Edge on face.
At last, I try to relieve myself by saying its a wood and its bound to break/crack :(
-
Nothing to worry CD, this kind of crack is pretty normal to happen. No amount of knocking can avoid it.
