How did you achieve your century ? Did you hit it out of the park from ball one or did you take your time to settle ?. Relive your experience :).

Sadly don't have the talent to come in and smash it from ball one!
First one - Slow start, with 30 off 60 odd. Then came off for rain and took a bit of a fancy to a couple 2nd change bowlers after the delay. Out for exactly 100 off 111 (I remember it well!).
Most significant - Pretty similar, horrible pitch. First 50 off around 80 balls, then picked off others once I was in. Was out for 120 from 118 on the last ball of the innings out of a team total of 190-7. We won the game and that put us in the UCCE playoff so it was a decent feeling.

Our first sunday league game, went in at number 3 after the first over, and batted through to 40 overs and scored 115 not out. I don't remember this one very well, but the one I remember the most and in my eyes the best, was when we played a village team that we normally don't beat. We nicked their best batsmen for a low score but wasn't given and he didn't walk, absolute joke. He batted through and got a 100. We need 200 off 40 overs. To which I again came in at 3, and batted through to score a 100. My best innings and a fairly quick rate :)

First of all this is a good topic I reckon, interesting to read through :)
My first ton was in a under 17 cup final against pretty poor opposition so I suppose my first proper ton came last season when we had been set 280 to chase in 45 overs. I opened the batting and tried whacking everything, cleared the pavillion 3rd ball of the innings and got to my ton in around 23 overs. And we managed to chase the 280, was a good day!

Got my first league ton two days ago, after getting out on 99 the week before! Opened and started fairly quickly, got to 50 ten overs in with team score in the 60's, and brought the 100 up in the 21st over with team score on 133. Wicket was lovely to bat on and we racked up 297-4. I got out on 122 in 29th over (off 90ish balls i think) trying to stick their opening bowler into the pubs beer garden :-[

I think scoring a ton as the skipper of my school side was pretty pleasing - especially as it was in a run chase and i hit the winning runs and brought up my ton with one shot... I scored my first ton the season before and that was a lot of fun - memorable because my Dad was there to watch and he never made a ton.
But that was a while ago now!!

Never scored a ton. Got my first 5fer when I was 16 playing for my regular team in terrible conditions. Cold and damp, and the opposition batsmen decided they wanted to stay on, despite our protestations. Sadly they failed to score runs...

My sole ton came when I was 17 or 18. Opened the batting and in a very uncharacteristic fashion for me, played a very steady innings nudging it around playing the anchor. Brought up 100 in the 42nd over (thinking it was only 50 as nobody had clapped for my 50!) then got out next over trying to push on, team finished on about 220 but we lost after a very classy ton from their overseas!

can't remember my first, was a bit shocked. My second was funny as I went from 95 to 100 without touching the ball. Was batting with a genuine number 11, last ball of the over struck my pads and dribbled down the pitch as we tried to sprint a single - the bowler went beserk and hurled the ball past the keeper for four overthrows, and the umpire (league umpire mind) gave me the runs because he thought I'd got a little tickle on it.

Yeah yeah yeah, shhhh you! M first one was as a 16 year old, playing on a sunday, skippering the team for the first time. Oppo ran up about 300-4 declared off 30, I batted at 5 and hit 106 off not many overs in a total of 121 all out! Good day!

My first 100 was on a Sunday in the blazing sun on a rock hard pitch in Wales. We batted first and I opened, their captain declining the standard 8 overs per bowler rule. As you can tell by his figures (number 1 bowler for them) it was a bad choice. Also claiming I had one shot after he kept bowling leg-stump half volleys :D. I got 50 off 38 balls and 100 off 84 balls before trying to hit 6s and getting stumped on 109.

My most significant 100 was my second, this time in league cricket and after having a reputation for doing it on Sundays, this relaxed me more about my league form. This time we were chasing a fairly modest total for our ground, and it was one of those pitches that you had to work hard for your runs. It was also frustrating for me telling the incoming batsmen to just stay with me as they kept getting themselves out and I thought we would lose. On a side note it was the first time i had used my Ayrtek :D

My first was my most significant, not because it was the first but because i dispatched the first and last ball for 6 over the pavillion, lol, remember it well coz the bowler had a right go at me...i laughed alot was out bowled for 109, only other ton came when I was given out first ball only for the oppo to witdraw the appeal!!! bet they regretted that one! ended up unbeaten on 126

My one and only hundred was against one of the few teams we got along with in our old league. We turned up with an under strength side expecting to be playing a 4th team only to see most of their 3rd's, as their game had been cancelled a few days previous.
It wasn't the largest of grounds and chasing 240 was probably about par. I started off streaky but after the first 10/15 runs felt quite comfortable until I played the ugliest hack ever only to be dropped by the keeper who was one of their 3rd XI players.
After that reprieve I had a little re-group then decided to cut loose as the runs were coming at the other end as well.

Wow, great topic and love reading the stories.
I made my only century two seasons ago, at the ripe old age of 33 and after 18 years of trying.
I was on holiday in Cornwall and we came back a day early because the weather was atrocious, it was a Friday afternoon and I text a few of our Saturday skippers and told them I was around if needed. Got a call from the 4th XI skipper an hour later saying I was in his team following a drop out. Lovely.
Turned up on the day, opened the batting and did my usual of dropping anchor, working ones and two's. Got dropped around 45-off and ended up making 101* batting through the full 52 overs. I remember the final over well, as I was (unknown to me) on 98 and the guy at the other end turned down a blatant single. Ended up hitting a 3 of the penultimate ball of the innings to get to three figures.
The best bit was I celebrated like it was a Test match, helmet off, arms aloft and soaking up the ripple of applause.
If I never do it again, I'll retire happy.
With the way I bat, I'll need at least 40 overs at the crease to get another one. I made 64 last weekend and was in for 36 overs.....

Stratts, I aspire to bat like that. I might have got close once in a 30 over game when I went in at no. 3 and got 57*. I was going like a train when our no.4 wandered down and told me I was going so well that he'd keep giving me the strike. Inevitably I couldn't get it off the square for the next three or four overs and told him to revert to 'plan A'. I wasn't wearing spikes and I reckon it cost me a good 20 runs through not being able to turn fast enough. Guess what my next purchase was...
As a footnote, I was never a bowler, but with their last pair in our skipper threw me the ball (must have been feeling sorry for them) I ended up with 0.5-0-2-1 :o

I have scored three in total and to be honest can not really remember a thing about them. My most significant was 150 no against Rainham in a cup match back in 2005. All I can tell you it was a 45 over game and it came off 127 balls 24 4's and 2 6's. The beers were sweet that night!!!!

We play lot of t-20's. My most memorable was a hatrick in the league matches . we batted first we had a small target to defend. The opposition chased quite well until I was given ball. They needed 10 runs of 2 overs. They two singles of first balls. Third was straighter delivery(slower pace) and the batsmen lofted it went to our best fielder and held on to a tough one and every one was relieved. Fourth ball I bowled a fast inswinger (my strength) and bam it hit the stumps. Fifth ball was a yorker and bastmen had no chance. I was relived and happy.
The final was pressure cooker situation we lost two quick chasing a gettable target in the first two overs and suddenly the target seemed tough. I went in and hit two sixers and a four and that relived all pressure and I scored couple of singles for the next two overs and I was out after.

never hit one :/ probably due to an apauling strike rate, best score 61* carried my bat for 40 overs though, shocking track though was chuffed :D

Never scored a century but I've taken a few 5fer's the most significant one was a couple of years ago at my old club getting 5-34. I took the last wicket and won us some very valuable points and steered us clear of relegation but it was just one of those days where everything went right and the ball just landed in the right spot.
Never forget my first 5fer though which was at U15 level though where I bowled 4-3-5-3 haha.
