Just wondering what you good folks do with your old bats that have broken and useless?
Personally I burn 'em. I don't have sentimentality when it comes to them and don't see the point in having them hanging around. So I have a nice little fire in the back garden and send them to baby jesus :)
-
I have mine stuck in my parents loft or in my garage, unless I have given them away or sold them.
the problem for me is knowing what to do with bats kept for sentimental reasons... I am not sure I want to burn them!!
-
Depends, I have my first bat, the bat I got my first 50 with and bat I got over 1000 in a season with as well as my Ayrtek Scoop.
The bat I got my first 100 with I borrowed and is now in Australia after I wasn't allowed to buy it off of the owner.
I've sold a few bats as well if I didn't use it anymore
-
Hmm for my first and second bats I had sentimental value so kept them. Others such as my third bat (CA 12000 Plus) I sold them.
-
Bats with any use left in them, either sell them, give them to team members/club bag, or alternatively, give them to the Cricket 4 Change charity.
-
I either leave them in my nephews garage for him and his mates to play with or give them away for free to players who ask me for them if they know i dont use them anymore or my club if they have a bit of life left in them ....... you have got to spread the love.
-
Garrett do you have any bats you need to get rid of? ;)
-
I have developed a habit of breaking my bats recently, so they tend to be used by my brother in the garden
-
See mine are always completely knackered when when I stop using them. Got a Newbery that's ready for the pyre now, it's cracked down the back of the bat and splice. But if anyone wants it they are more than welcome.... it's a grade 1+ I'll stick on a photo if there's any interest. Just cover the postage or collect it from me...

Stick a photo on then please. Where abouts are you based? I'd expect a few people on here would be interested, especially those looking to start shaping bats if it's completely gone.

I use mine until they break and then chuck them away...
-
I use them, I've still not used a bat until breaking point, and I've had one of them 7 years! Sigh :(

don't knock them in properly.... Then you can break the toe/edge/shoulder and buy yourself a new one!
-
Finally had to buy a new bat this week after using the same bat in every game for four years until the handle snapped a couple of weeks ago. Safe to say the old bat is going to be kept and possibly rehandled to become a net/wet weather bat.
-
id rather give mine to the club or to up and coming kids to play and practice with

Well it's a bit late for that Tim! ;) haha I think it's too well knocked in, either that or my not so judicious use of the edges doesn't seem to amount to being enough wear and tear to break the darn things!
