Title: Hosk Watch
Post by: jblowe on June 16, 2012, 09:19:35 PM
Had the great pleasure of meeting the mighty Hosk today, as our clubs played a OCA league match.  I would like to state Pete is a true Gent!!.

After Pete kept wicket (very well) for 45 overs,  I sat down and had tea with him, then just before he went out to bat he showed me a selection of bats I could only dream of, Made my day.

And his match bat, wow!!! and he put it to good use today, making a very good looking 28 against a very quick bowling attack.

Nice to meet you Pete, see you again in a few weeks
Jason

The bat was stickered as a Newbury, but I believe it was a custom made job. Very nice bat, with lots of straight grains.
He is a big lad and when he hit the ball, it went. Most of his run came in 4s.
He played very well, looked like he could bat, much too good for the division we play in.

Hi Jason

Was a pleasure to meet you too!
It was indeed a bat custom made in UK and acquired from Asad!
Will try to get pics up soon as its a lovely bat, and as you said it does respond very nicely.
The game yesterday was played in a good spirit and was an enjoyable game with the exception of the gale force winds causing problems!!!!  :(
Your bowling attack was quality......and pretty damn rapid!! The kind of sheer pace that i wouldnt normally see unless I'm playing for the 1st XI.
Glad the weather held off (just about) and look forward to meeting you again in a few weeks when I will see if I can bring another assortment of willow for you to play with!
