Went to see Paul today as had a promotion so wanted to treat myself to something different so after a few emails times were arranged and I was greeted to an open workshop with Paul shaping up a beauty of a bat
After the pleasantries I was shown a selection of xl grade willow and after Paul tapping them up and weighing them he suggested the best one and I agreed then on to the shaping. As Paul shapes from raw cleft was fun to watch a bit of wood with a handle turn in to a bat with a little in put from me at various stages but after what seemed like 5 mins but was prob longer it was shaped up so we headed for a coffee which was just as well made as the bats on display, then back to the workshop for final shaping on handle etc and when I was happy we were done as Paul is going to finish up in week with all those little touches but all in all a great afternoon spent chatting about cricket in all forms from pro which he played to amateur which he coaches to a nice guy with a lot of knowledge about the game
Some workshop pics and preview pics of my wand Paul's press is also there which gives a nice flat face

How much are the Supreme bats if you require custom specifications or are all supreme's made from scratch?
I like the look of these bats but prefer a traditional shape with thin edges adn big swell on the back, bit like the bat M Bevan used to use or the MH Distinction ... can you make these or are you not inot the big concaving?
-
All Supreme bats are made from scratch. Pretty much anything can be made for you. The Roco bat was a supreme xl cleft just customised to what he wanted. The price is the same as the XL range for customised bat. ( june offer still standing) Not really into the big concaving but once again it can be done its your bat after all. Mine have some concaving in them but sometimes some bats seem rediculous and i think can loose on performance from it. anyway if i can help in any other way just get in touch aldred173@btinternet.com

Well can't get more custom than a cleft in to the shape you want and even Paul seemed happy with the result as to get a light pick up on this beast was a challenge well met

My initials stamped in nice surprise I must say

Oh baby what a beast.
Did anyone get to Warwick school on Sunday for that lords taverners game Aldo mentioned? I did it was great day and saw the Olympic torch.
-
nice bat
interesting how the shoulder is thicker than part of the edge, never seen that before. I presume it helps the balance??
-
Old county clippers had the same style of shoulder. I had one around 1996 like that.
-
It's an effect of photo it's not like it in flesh or I have not noticed it but big all over
-
Glad you enjoyed the day nick was great fun. A few glasses of beer and wine passed from Saturday night through Sunday I must admit

I was on myton road for the Olympic parade but not the cricket. Where you based nick???
-
Not sure what road it was on but went to see the cricket at the school the torch went straight past at tea time. Seb Coe was at the cricket so was made a big thing there.
Nick
-
Where do u live mate?
-
Hope the torch was good didnt get to see it myself nick but we did have one going round in the marquee. Good to see some great international sportsmen on the field though from cricket and rugby always a pleasure for me to go and have a hit with those guys

Live in the peaks took my family down for the day
-
Ah ok mate, glad you had a great day :)
-
Tell you what you see how good these guys were. I mean they are retired and the bowlers still land it on the right spot and the batters still nail it. Tim Minton opened the bowling with Paul aldred and it was doing alsorts. Not sure who the keeper was but he wasn't a player I hope anyway
-
Used the bat last weekend and goes like a rocket on steroids very impressed as pick up is nice whilst retaining size I like
-
Looks like a great piece of work by Paul! Congratulations, glad its going well for you.
Cant wait for mine to arrive now! Got the tracking confirmation...now just counting down.
Doesnt look like its gonna get any meaningful use this season though. Our match this weekend is cancelled sadly.
Cheers
