Title: Phillip Hughes
Post by: langer17 on June 28, 2012, 12:56:17 PM
Moved from NSW over to SA. Interesting move, but he would get to bat on the batter friendly decks in Adelaide.

(NSW have lost a few openers now - Jaques and Katich retired, Hughes moved to SA, Watson and Warner will be with the national team quite a bit and Khawaja may move up to QLD too)

Result of the CA contracts this. NSW can't afford to pay the contracts of six players who lost their CA contract, so a few guys need to move on. Interestingly Brett Lee refused a NSW contract because he didn't want to take the spot of a young player. He'll probably get the $190,000 CA retainer for playing enough ODIs/T20 games to qualify for that anyway, like Cowan and Bailey will.

As for Hughes, reckon it'll be a good move for him, if for no other reason than it gets him out of the spotlight of the Sydney press.

Klinger/Hughes/Harris/Ferguson is a good FC top four. Shame that the rest of the side isn't really up to the right standard.

Khawaja's off to New Texas as well isn't he?

Doug Bollingher hasn't been offered a contract by NSW either? What is he going to do?

Could see him turning into a freelance T20 player.

Hoping we can get Khawaja can come to our club (Wests), but have a feeling he'll go to Uni.
