Which bat would you choose out of these ............
GN LEGEND
KOOKABURRA PLAYERS BAT
MH DISTINCTION
PUMA 6000 RANGE
or LIMITIED EDITION GN OR GM
or A LIMITED EDITION BAT FROM A SPONSOR ON HERE?
-
M&H Distinction or Puma 6000
-
GN le for me,
Trouble is I am probably a bit of a brand snob when it comes to bats. Despite all the bars I've owned I've always had a GN as a main bar so would have to stick to Grays.
-
Depends what your looking for in a bat I suppose
-
GN LE over a Legend? Pretend I'm buying it for you.
-
GN LE over a Legend? Pretend I'm buying it for you.
Roco, the one with the best preformance and best pick up.
I have an MH distinction at the moment, that is going to be hard to replace but i was wondering about other peoples experiences/opinions of these bats are.I once got a kahuna 1000 and although i never used it wasnt impressed with how it looked considering it was suppsoed to cost £400
-
I'd go for a custom off here as my aldred is exactly what I want in a bat ie huge profile with great rebound plus got the bonus of clean staright multi grain face and my talismans are the same
-
forgot to add ............ im buying it blind without seeing the bat as i dont live in the uk
-
Well I'd lean more towards the custom makers unless you can visit a shop near you as more choice with shape weight etc and for your premium budget in sure you'd get a beauty
-
Id go for either an LE from the sponsors
-
LE from sponsors or distinction for me. but does depend on what you are after!
-
come on lads just one bat from the list .....
seems like the kookaburra isnt liked??
-
Redback LE or BB T20
-
I'd go for a custom of here. Will probably be much better value and made exactly to your liking
-
Whichever bat i chose it will be paid for by a sponsor so price or value for money isnt a problem
-
M&H
or a H4L 666
-
BLueroom Bombora 1+ from here. Man alive mine goes...
-
Top of the range bat off one of the forum sponsors, I'd also take a lot a look at Asad's hand picked beauties
-
I'd go for one a custom one. Black Cat, H4l, list goes on...
Redback's also an option?
-
I would go M&H
-
I'd go blue room or h4l, they always seem to get a good review
Actually go saf or redback lol
Actually....arrrrrrr too much choice!
-

Newbery Cenkos in that case, been waiting a while for a money no problem type to actually buy one of those ;)
-
£1000 .......... ouch
-
If you were going Puma way i would recommend getting RPC and ask for LE willow if you really want to but, puma 6000 and rpc are same bat maker... I got an RPC made earlier in the year i can't tell you how good it is...other brand that is very close to my heart atm is h4l....both are grt and arn 220-250 gbp you could have the top top bat made for you to your liking...
I M&H are too pricey...GN bats are nice and so are GMs but then they are also expensive for high end stuff...
-
distinction
-
Stick with what u know so go m&h distinction. I've just ordered one.
If money is no object then a laver signature. I love mine. Worth every penny.
-
i really want a saf so bad
-
If you've got a sponsor paying for it I'd take a Laver any day of the week!
-
If you have a sponsor paying then get a Screaming Cat
-
I'm swaying towards the Legend or the Distinction but not many people seem to think much of the Legend.
I had a Laver in 2005 and 2006, were nice but i'd say the Distinction i have now is better but im sure Laver have improved since then ..... cant beleive that was 7 years ago!
Im going to get some photos of the Distinctions that are on offer to me and will post them up on here. Im going 2lb 11 or 2lb 10 which ever looks like the best plank.
-
I wonder how many people have had a Legend though - M&H are popular on here, that may be a factor?
-
I was very impressed with Paul Aldred's latest bats, especially the G3 which was posted on here (yesterday?) if I hadn't just shelled out for a new bat (isn't it always the way?) I'd definitely be giving him a call.
-
Personally for me I would go for the M+H, Like the style of their bats and their company.
-
What about an M&H Master?
-
i have a Rob Pack Custom the same maker of the Puma and i have to say it is one of the best bats i have had. You really cant fault anything about it and it very very responsive
-
i was thinking about a master but they come in 3lb only unless you get a hybrid one which i think is MH realising the bat they have made is very very specialised as not many people bat with 3lb bats so they have modified it.
-
The Charlie French bats have consistently won the batoff's - with the lavers only getting marked down on price (although their haven't been many hell4leathers at the batoffs) - failing that a blank bat might be a super option...
failing that a SCat...
-
only one thing in it really the one that feels best in your hands
my advice do not buy blind hence a stacked up for sale section
-
i've narrowed it down to:
MH Distinction .... grains are not straight or ruler like but 2lb 11, lots of wood and i know these bats pick up light
there is a 2lb 10 one with ruler straight grains but htere is only 6 on the face, it look a cheaper grade if you ask me.
Legend .... oppposite to the above but 2lb 9
Quantum LE .... superb grains 2lb 10
Im thinking that i'll take the distinction and the quantum LE
-
Hmm... If I were you and could get any bat I wanted for any amount of money I would most certainly get a custom made bat to ensure it suits my playing style. If you live near a bat maker, give him a call, go down and get a bat that is made entirely for you.

If i was in england i would be down the batmakers shed in a flash
Unfortunately i dont live in England so by the time i have paid for flights it would be a £500 bat plus they dont remove the vat ;)
Too be honest as long as it has a nice middle and it isnt dead at the top or bottom im ok
-
Ahh ok, where in the world are you?

Legend

A Blank Bat is all you need.

Don't think so.

TK must of lost his program for M&h's profiles then as he hasn't been able to make any for two other companies in the last 5 months
-
Maybe not allowed to make certain shapes for other companies
-
That would explain why he cant make M&H profiles, they probably have a contract done to say he cant reproduce the shapes

i already have 2

MH Distinction has arrived, 2lb 11oz picks up quite light.
Too be honest a bit disappointed with the shape and the handle.
The handle feels very thin and not as oval as i would like and the middle is quite high about 10cm higher than the old model!!!!!!!!!!!! The swell is longer and basically starts about 6cm from the bottom all the way up the face. The toe is extremely thick compared to the old model and the swell is less at around 68mm compared to 72mm on my last one.
13 grains and darkwood on the inside for about 4 grains.
Overall it may be a blessing in disguise, i think i can use this on the bouncer tracks and the old one on the damp low tracks so i have two superb match bats.
The Quantum LE is going back not for me.
Lovely clean face, 10 grains, nice handle, 38mm edges but hardly any swell and at 2lb 9 with excellent pick up it feels like a 2lb 6 kids bat ........ unless someone wants it for £200.
-
Any chance of some pics?
-
will stick some up this evening and compare to the old model and the Quantum LE
-
is the new one you have the same shape as the website pic?
did you request the older or newer model?
-
I have got rid of the Quantum LE ... £185 was all edge and nothing else
Im now stuck with the dilemma of whether to go for a
Legend £225
Kahuna 1000/Recoil 900 or Blade 950 £165
GM LE EPic £200
Puma Bionic 6000 £185
Do people have any experience of these bats, I had a kahuna 1000 which i got for somone and i didnt think it was great for a £400 bat.
My MH has a high middle so i want a low middle bat ......... think im swaying with the Legend.
-
If you're not finding bats that suit you, I think you should be strongly considering a custom bat from one of the 'smaller' but in many eyes, better brands. If you have a lot to spend, I'd go for something like a Laver, H4L, Redback, Aldo, basically any smaller brand that will make you a great bat that suits your needs.
-
I'll be more than happy to get you a handmade bat sorted that meets your complete needs. If you're interested please give me a PM.
Matt.
-
Out of those four, I would go for either the Epic or the Legend. The Legend is probably a better bat, and paying an extra £25 for it is worth it, though I am assuming all these bats are brand new. :) You could probably get a bat made to your own specs for you from a sponsor on this forum for about the same price, or less!
-
I have a puma bionic 6000, all i can say is wow! What a bat, by far the best i have used for a long time!!
-
What abt the Puma platinum, black sticker ones...
-
What abt the Puma platinum, black sticker ones...
I saw them on cricket insight review they look great and only in limited numbers. The stickers are awesome. Also I didn't find them in UK. I found them only in Australia.
-
I can't get to the UK to buy a bat so have to buy them blind.
I have a 2010 Distinction and a 2012 Distinction, one with a high middle and one with a low middle. The low middle bat is dying so need to replace it.
I have a BB which is nice but as you can see i can get these bats very cheap.
Is the middle on the Puma 6000 Bionic quite low? What about a Legend, never seen them in the flesh.
I was thinking about getting the MH Retro that they have for a limited time .......... now that would be a classic bat
-
The MH Distinction keeps popping up. Does anyone know of a forum sponsor who has made the profile for sale/order?
-
Fletcheruk made a Distinction-style bat for Simmy - big old bat it was too.
-
Mmmm. I like the bat/profile but not the price. How did Simmy's turn out?
-

i've made about 4 distinction profiles now, all in different weights. let me know if you would like to see some photos.

If I bought anymore gear this year i'd be up for a divorce, so yes i'd love to some pic's. Around 2lb10/12 pls.... LOL!
-
Value for money Sir Garret not cheap.
-
This one weighed 2.9oz if i remember correctly

Very nice... I'll probably buy something similar (or the same ;) ) next season as an alterantive to my recently purchased BC Jester.
-

in my opinion the best bat you can buy ........ wait for the sales and you might get one for £275 ...... still steep if you dont bat that much but they are great.
the next best for me would be a Blank Bat from Canners
Think i might plump for the MH Retro offer MH have on for £250
-
the spine height on my 2010 distinction is around 72mm and only 2lb 10 ... i think
I have yet to see a Distinciton recreation that comes close, the concaving and spine heights are nowhere near but i think they have toned it down based on the 2012 model i have now. the middle is a lot higher and spine height is only 68mm
-
Yep a really nice looking bat. I think it will complement my Jester nicely & go well with my M&H soft I have coming. (Thanks to IJC)

4 of the same pic showing your 2012 profile! But you can scroll thru pics
-
Is there much difference in edge size & toe thickness? They both seem similar in size(edge & toe)
-
hi mate you can't really get alot better than gary from redback, his bats are truely awesome and a top man that will do all he can to help!!
-
I had one in 2010 a red one, it was nice, handle went after 3 matches so he refunded me in full. Was a nice bat but from day 1 I mentioned the handle being poor to him. The handle is extremely important after all it's the only part that you actually touch/feel.
Think the MH bats have the best handles of the bats I've used although this one I have now is bordering on being a disappointment.
-
what about a GM EPic LE .......... anyone got one of these .... how low is the middle and what are they like?
-
Custom off here mate, just because you get a personal touch rather than a mass produced bat. H4L or M&H would be my advice.
I don't know about you or anyone else but I'm a fan of having gear that not everyone has heard of, plus it supports the smaller traditional cricket bat makers
-
Anyone have any views on the GM Epic Graeme Smith Edition?? Are these heavy??
-
Anyone have any views on the GM Epic Graeme Smith Edition?? Are these heavy??
These player editions are pot luck on the weights. I've seen one at 2-8/9 and then seen them going from 2-12 to 2-14. it's the typical GM way of fleecing people.
