Ever lost faith in the cricket world? This following text conversation with my father today has cheered me up no end:-
10:17 am, father - Probably had my last game of cricket yesterday. Ligament damage to right knee (the good one) and maybe cartilage as well
10:17am, me - How did you manage that?
10:59am, father - Taking another quick single in the over 70's game
11:00am, me - Is there such a thing in an over 70s game? Aren't you under 70 though?
3:14pm, father - Played for Berkshire/Hampshire against Worcester. You can play if you are 68.
4:54pm, me - So to recap. You are playing as an under age player and managed to injure yourself going for a quick single in an over 70s game? Do you know how funny that is?
4:58pm, father - Not as funny as the fact that I was the fourth person to receive treatment in the match. The first aid box spent more time on the pitch than any of the batsman!
Shame he's crock but I thought it was worth sharing.

You're old man is a legend! If I'm still playing at 40 I'll be lucky! Body is falling apart....

Grow them tough in Bucks dads still playing. @ 74

Just the thought of having so few players that they combine counties and and let players 2 year under the age limit play. Then watching to 70 year olds take a quick single, following by an ambulance parked at square for emergencies. :D
Going to have to get down to one of these games, sounds incident packed!
