Still contemplating if I should go up, will take me an hour to get there. A lot can happen in an hour!

Fingers crossed for him - don't want another Paul Downton outcome...

He'll be alright I expect, was 'only' against the spinner. Cut above the eye? Taken to hospital as a precaution I would imagine!

firdose moonda - saffer journo has just tweeted:

Boucher will have surgery at 6pm UK time on left eye to repair a laceration to the white part of his eye. Damage to be assessed after that

I know it may not have necessarily stopped a bail but when you see things like this it makes you wonder why any pro would not wear a lid when stood up to the stumps

I must have been hit in the helmet about 5 times this season alone by the bails. Luckily I wear a helment no matter what when stood up. Its not the pace of the bowler bowling that is the problem, its a top edge or bail that you can do nothing about!

Hope it is nothing to serious for Boucher!

i got a bail in the eye last year. was lucky it split the eyelid and split the corner aswell. a stitch or two later and alot of clearing the blood out of my eye i was fine. Must admit its pretty painful and screws up your vision. i was lucky it was more the eye socket/skin area rather than my eye

Same here, having taken one in the mouth when the ball flicked up off the bail I don't fancy a repeat!

So Marks tour is over  :( I hope he recovers soon... Not a good start to the tour for my boys, Wonder what the selectors will do now?? I would play AB as keeper and stick another all rounder in the team

This could be a blessing in disguise for South Africa IF they have a capable batsman in reserve. Boucher has long been past his best in my opinion

I think with the Bat yes, with the gloves no.. who knows this could have been his best tour ever..
