I know we've had this topic before.........or at least a similar one!
But with the emergence of many brands plus lots of other brands that are not sponsors on this forum, I was curious as to which bats have tweeked your interest this season? Or maybe there is a bat that you have always loved (e.g. Newbury Mjolnir or older model) which you have never purchased but always wanted to? Or maybe you used to have a bat which you loved and would have again if you had the chance? And what are your reasons?
I will kick it off with a few which have got my interest!
1. SAF Hedes - used one at the last Batoff and it felt stunning and the response was superb!
2. Adidas Incurza Elite - had a 2'9 which had a very ordinary profile but was so easy to use and pinged like a rocket!
3. GN Dynadrive - have an old model and curious as to the new model!
4. Puma Platinum Black Edition – looks amazing!
5. GM Players – are they really any better than the (already excellent) LE models?
I already have most of the sponsors bat’s from this forum and therefore I already know that the Black Cats, Lavers, Packs, Bluerooms, Instincts, H4L’s, etc, etc produce and supply some absolutely incredible bats!!! But this is my list of ones I am curious about!
-
Ravi Boparas new SS has given me an inferiority complex after watching it on SKY yesterday.
Ive not seen a bigger bat and most of the SS ive seen are not very big in reality.
Im simply looking for the biggest bat at the lightest weight that will hit the ball furthest ... but arent we all?
-
Gray nicolls a61 - I absolutely love mine, ball flies of and is massive for the weight!
-
This is more about what has got your interest that you haven't already got in your kitbag?
-
The 5 I would love to own:
1) Laver signature - would only buy if money was no object to see if the were really all that
2) GN dynadrive like Pete-looks intriguing hope the price is right
3) GM JT players- again the same as Pete like the look of the GM players especially the JT icon.
4) Hammer Odin- Now I know tha Jason Mellet isnt the most popular guy on this forum but I would love to try one of his odin bats made by 'one of the best bat makers in the UK'
5) A Bulldog - was offered one by kieron, the AOC test bat, but I decided to got for a GM instead, why? i dont know?

My mistake, before I owned one it was the only bat which caught my eye anyway!
-
1) GM Purist thing hopefully coming out next year/Trott Players Edition
2) GN E41
3) One of the BlankBats
4) Screaming Cat Series 1
5) Torn between Dynadrive and Puma Platinum Black Edition
-
I'd be interested in trying the GN A61 or E41 or Puma Platinum...
-
1) SAF Hades, offset edges sound cool
2) Joker, always wanted to try one, I can only imagine how far a 3lb joker would launch a ball
3) Laver and Wood Reserve Ultra, reminds me of my slaz v12 I had as a kid
4) Any blank bat, good idea and get universal praise on here
5) One of the aldred xl bats, they all look great from the pics so far
-
@Pete: this looks lovely :) at 2.9lbs

3) A Blank Bat, so much so I'm considering one for next year.
4) Laver and Wood (any of them will do)
5) A GN LE of any kind, had a Predator 5 star a few years ago that was a belter so it would be interesting to see how well the LE's go.

-
1) GN DynaDrive. I HAVE to own one!
2) Aldred XL
3) Screaming Cat. I just want a bat made by the master before he packs it in.
4) Helios Bat that looks like a tweaked Mjolnir. About time someone was brave enough to produce a proper profile!
5) the re-issued SS Jumbo and Turbo, available from their website....want one!! Or do I???? Hmmmm
6) M&H Amplus...odd profile that I would like to try....I know that's 6 but I love bats!
Only 2 of the 6 are forum sponsors...! Come on peeps! Get innovative!
-
Oh Lordy! Ref to a very recent thread, I'm just waiting for someone to get told that four out of their selection of five are actually made by the same bloke! :o
-
I think I'm fairly safe with 4 of my 6!! :D
-
I'm basing mine on some of the pics I've seen on here plus a bit of gossip etc. In no particular order:
Paul Aldred XL - the latest ones pictured on here look brilliant and seem to be gaining lots of plaudits on performance.
Screaming Cat - same reason as Pedals, plus I was talking to a teammate recently who had a MH made for him by the great man when he was there - best bat he has ever owned by some distance.
Black Mamba - I've been impressed by Uzisports service and reckon on a personal visit I might get pointed in the right direction.
Blue Room/Robert Pack 'custom' - again, highly rated on here and I bow to the superior knowledge of you guys.
Joker - but only if I could magically shed 30 years!
Huge apologies for anyone I've left out but the list could have been very long.

3.) Black Cat Phantom-Look like really nice bats
4.) Hell4Leather-Hattori-Love the H4L Stickers, very modern
5.) Screaming Cat-If money wasn't an issue I'd like to see if they are actually worth the cash.

Probably my best bat ever.

Blank Bats T20 - already bought and will review
Laver & Wood - will be sorting one in the next few days
Redback - already purchased and almost ready
apart from that nothing else has made me part with any money for a number of reasons ? cost being the main reason or i would have purchased a few other forum sponsors bats.
-
SAF Hades or Infinity, look superb and have only heard good things.
Beach cricket special, I can't help but buy into his dedication to the craft and his finishing looks top rate.
Screaming Cat, would like to know what all the fuss is about.
Rob Pack custom, had a go with a few Pumas, all superb. Would love to see his best work.
GM LE Halo or Purist if it returns??

I'd love a modern take on the v12, I've just donated my old one to my club kit and it's still a good bat even though it's about 15 years old.
-
Seen you a few bats in action this year. A few bats that I have really enjoyed watching in action is the Redback Paradox and the Woodstock TDF. After a lot of reviews on several different forums I decided to get a Woodstock TDF, which proved to be one of the best bats I have ever owned.
-
I'd like a Blue Room as I love Puma bats. Would basically like to try a bat done by every person who presses their own bats to get a feel of the differences - two bats pressed by the same person but made by separate companies will probably perform similarly. Would love to try a Millichamp made bat as well, also an M&H Distinction.
-
First on my list has to be a screaming cat, I love the profiles and never heard anything bad about them. Second would be a Woodstock custom, live reasonably near and after the TDF won the bat of the year, I want one even more now! Third, probably a Laver and Wood reserve ultra, just something different than I am used to, massive edges, flat face, crazy profile and all this at 2lb 8oz. Fourth, a GN scoop 'legend', something completely retro, yet modern at the same time. I've only used one from the 1980s and that was about 2lb 10 with 25-30mm edges and that packed a massive punch so imagine what a new 'legend' version with 40mm edges would be like! Lastly, a big fat massive 3 and half pound TK performance lam, need I say why? ;)
-
You can keep your fancy willow; if you could give me five bone dry weeks of 25 degree heat, I'd use a blinking Readers to just have the guarantee of a few games in a row!

Can't like this comment enough. And I'm a bowler so probably wouln't have to use the readers bat! win win situation!

jag.
It has been mentioned that he is winding things down a little bit, he's been at it for years and he's not getting any younger...with the CV he has you could hardly blame him for resting on his laurels! I hope he doesn't do it before I buy myself a Series 1 with ruler straight grains though.... :D
-
1) Screaming Cat Series 1, 3 or 5
2) Laver & Wood Reserve Ultra (Don't know if I could bring myself to even tap a ball off a Signature bat!)
3) A Black Cat F40
4) Newbery Tour
5) Salix Pod
PS. Anyone know what the import charges in the UK are like for the Laver & Wood and Screaming Cats? It would be a shame not to at least see a Screaming Cat bat before he retires... :(
-
1) Scat
2) H4l custom
3) Salix custom
4) Kookaburra reintroduce the diablo
5) Chase 4 leaf clover bat
