Popped in yesterday to visit Paul in his cosy but well equipped shop nearish elephant & castle tube station. First thing I noticed when I walked in was the top class willow on show, a very nice willowstix bat along with some beautiful Salix's. The bats along with all of the other gear was very well presented (a lot better than fordhams, who hide their bats in ugly cardboard boxes).
Paul certainly knows his stuff and will try and is a very helpful guy who will try and sort you out the best deal possible. One bat that certainly stood out was a 2.14 GM 909 + that felt about 2.8lb when picked up, it was huge as well!
Hope the guy who wanted a video of the newbury being tapped up was happy!

Thanks for this, Matt. It was good to meet you, and I appreciate you writing this post.
Of course, we are still in our first year of trading, so we can't afford anywhere near the same stock levels of some of the other retailers out there, but I'm glad you agreed that there is still something for everyone here, and some very nice bats too... And yes, the video for the Newbery guy worked a treat! :-)

Just to add my two penn'orth - I popped in to see Tall Paul in his lair earlier this year.
Very, very nice, compact shop with lots of nice gear. Obviously some very well selected willow as well, everything looked pretty decent quality regardless of brand. Some very good value M+H, Willostix and Newbery if I remeber rightly. Tallus Paulus was also very friendly and knowledgable - nearly left with a Willostix Stick, but just got away with it.
Well worth the visit for you guys - you won't be disappointed.

Haha I didn't realise you were on this forum Paul! Yes, the tapping up of the Newbery Bats was a great service! Tuesday can't come fast enough (Getting two bats coming through), and will do a full review when I get it on this website. :)

Word for word exactly what I've said each time I've been there! It's a beaut.

Cheers for this, guys - it's actually 3lb dead. Behold the bat in question: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7OvDrhUi2s&feature=plcp

I thought it was an Icon I was looking at?

To be honest, I can't remember if it was the Icon or Flare GM+ 909. If it was indeed the Icon, I was right with the weight...

It's the one (that was) at the very rear of the rack on the left hand side. 2'14, £207 (I think, will edit if required!), heavily doused in my fingerprints :)
Definitely a plus, though cant remember if it was an Icon or Flare either.

Yeah it was one on the left @ the back of the GM stand

In that case, you're right - definitely the Icon, and I agree, it feels about 2.9-2.10! Well done on Vantage, by the way, too. Sounds like you've got off to a pretty good start... :-)

I'm shocked that Icon hasn't been snapped up yet. If I were you paul, I'd put that in my bag and keep it for a rainy day.
