Hello
In my opinion I'm pretty good at putting grips onto bats, I've mastered the kwik grip and gripping cone. But when the grip won't suction for the KG of won't sit right on the handle from the cone there is a third method.
Yesterday I was coaching at a district match when one of my team came up to me and said he didn't have a grip on his bat. He was next in and getting desperate and then I remembered the plastic bag method. I managed to get the grip onto the bat quickly and efficiently, I was pretty impressed. I just tried it when putting a grip onto my new Kookaburra, again it was easy and the grip was place perfectly on the handle.
This is a very good technique to use if you are in an emergency or don't have a cone or KG around. I'm not sure how it would go with putting 1 grip on top of another, or doing it with a thick spiral grip but its pretty effective

That's handy... What is it and this thread is useless without a video!

Ok, I'll make a video and destroy another plastic bag! Expect it some time tonight

I thought you were referring to pulling a Munter and having to put a bag over her head haha
-
I think a plastic bag would be a bit dangerous in that sense! Paper bag maybe!

couple on youtube already.

Never seen that before - A brilliant tip - thanks.

By far the easiest way. I use this over a cone any time, as A - I dont have a cone, and B - I lack the guns!
-
i cheat and use my own electric vaccuum pump. alot easier than both.

That saves me from doing it then!

Does that have the same problem with some grips as the kwik grip?
-
if it has a small hole in then it doesnt always work but ive not found a style of grip it doesnt work so far.
-
Saw this ages ago - clever way although a bit fiddly!
-
I saw this a while ago but I can't even get the bag in the grip! :(

Get your knitting needles out Junter!

Used this method a few times – very easy for just putting one grip on, but required a bit of brute force and fiddling for putting a half grip underneath.
If I recall I think I ended up putting the full grip on first then folding the bottom couple of inches back up. Then rolled the half grip and put it on top and rolled it down to the bottom of the handle – then rolled back the full grip and manoeuvred the half grip underneath.
Probably wasnt the easiest way of doing it – but I also had a couple of strips taped underneath to turn it from a round handle to a semi-oval which made it even more awkward.
Only did it for 1 & 1/2 grips once though –went out and bought a gripping cone afterwards.

Maybe I did it wrong. Tried doing this but didn't work at all, got blue dye from the Tesco bag all over my hands and bat grip, waste of time putting a second grip on

Try a Waitrose bag mate.....it's all about the right tools for the job! ;)

Exactly my thoughts. :P
I opened the article to read why a plastic bag (not a paper bag). :D
