Title: Millichamp & Hall Original Low
Post by: jimba101 on July 23, 2012, 10:01:59 AM
Hi Guys

My purchase from the IJC offer has arrived and i thought it would be rude not to share it with you ;)

I went with the Millichamp & Hall Original Low after speaking to Paul to see what he had in. He sent me some nice pictures as soon as it arrived with him and it looked very nice so i couldnt resist from purchasing it.

It arrived early this morning nicely packaged (there is little dent in the spine which i assume it has aquired on its way to me  :-[ ) and also came with a M&H bat cover FOC which is a nice touch.

As for the bat itself, its a nice chuncky piece of wood with generous edges. The profile is very similar to that of the Solution, infact i cant really see any differences myself. It has 10 pretty straight grains with about 3/4 heartwood grains on the outside edge. The finishing is excellent as expected by M&H and stickers just make it look pure class.

Here are the obligatory pictures:

My only slight problem the bat is the weight, it said 2.11 on the website however my scales suggest it it is slightly heavier than that. And although the pick up isnt awful it is not quite as good as my H4L probably because of the lower middle. So i shall spend this afternoon fiddling with grip set-ups to see if i can get something that feels better!

Overall the service from IJC was spot on, the current offer is extremely generous and i am sure there are many bargains still to be had!

Enjoy.

Bargain, looks good. These are all £250 in the m&h shop, so great value at half price.

These are great bats. I have one and hit my first ever 50 with it.
Pickup is a bit rubbish on mine but tbh that's expected for a bat with a very low middle and next to none concaving.
Looks a cracker

yes - got ages left yet!

You've got until the end of the Olympics, mate, but the CBF30 code can only be used once per customer, so choose wisely!

Thanks again for doing this review, James, much appreciated - I only wish M&H gave us the actual weights of their bats rather than weighing them before applying stickers and grips - would make life a lot easier!

Very nice! If the pick up is a little bottom heavy, you don't actually need grips. What you could do is get some lead tape, like the stuff used on golf clubs to add more weight to the swing or something like that. Roll down the top of the grip, and you see where the twine binding starts? You just put a ring of the lead tape round that. I would recommend that you do a maximum of 4 rings of the tape round each section, with a maximum of 2 sections on the twine and 2 sections on the wooden part at the very end of the handle. Too much will cause the end of the bat to stick out abnormally, so 3 rings every section is a good number. Start of with 1 or 2 rings per section, and then roll the grip back up and test the pick up. After the pick up is desirable, I would recommend wrapping some electrical tape around the golf tape to keep it stable, as it can be quite flimsy, or that may have just been the golf tape I was using. You don't want the pick up too light, so make sure to test it after every 2 rings of golf tape are applied.

If this is confusing you, just PM me and I'll try explain it better, or I may post up some pics on it later!

Hope this helps!

It was sold as an m&h retro custom made. There is a bargain bucket in m@h with about 20 of these in there with mixed stickers including the old retro ones

I snapped up the 2'9 one of these after promising myself I wouldn't buy another bat, and cannot believe how well it responds. £115 for a bat of this quality is unreal.

Hat's off to IJC

We will definitely get some more in, but it could be 2-3 weeks, so won't be applicable for the CBF30 code unfortunately - but even at our full list price of £164.99, these bats are still great value for money!

After reading his post about how well it responds and the quality, I fear that he may not be interested in selling!  ;)
And especially at the same price he paid for it!  :(

I think if Paul allows us to use the code once more I would definitely be looking at additional orders considering there is more stock coming in and some of it is brands that I have never used but have been interested in ;)

So Paul how abt the CBF30.V2 code for us double dippers :D

Ha, maybe you should start up a 'Double Dippers' petition, Tushar!  :) You can never underestimate the power of a few signatures...  :D
