genuinely huge edges - no spine or spine and concaved? i wont be selling the bats at £250 anyway so that bit wont be an issue

Concaved. What I mean is that every bat with big edges costs loads, so it would be nice to get one for less.

Something with relatively modern edges, like around 28-32mm, with minimal-no concaving (Depending on the weight the buyer wants), and a mid-sweetspot, which allows for a large playing area.  8)

that can be done. similar to the pyro really. middle is probably mid to low on that but as mentioned i can make that profile without/ little concaving by reducing the spine height a bit.

I'd like to see a bat that can guarantee about 1000 runs a season, let me know if you get one in  :D

i actually prefer a traditional bat, smallish edges and high spine with maybe a little concaving.

Anyway, back on topic...I think you need a traditional profile and a modern profile, everyones happy then.

Make a true Distinction profiled bat out of proper oversize clefts and don't charge over £250 for it! If you did that I would buy one.

i did make a distinction profile from a standard cleft which came out quite nice. oversized would be good though

all sounding so good until the over dried bit. not sure that would be possible without either a very low density cleft or drying it to a point it will break whilst knocking in.

some good feedback so far guys. anyone want something slightly different to whats being offered at the moment?

I remember, nice looking bat it was too! Based on that an Oversize cleft one would be huge...and probably quite a good seller.... ;)

second that, though a price under £200 sounds better.

Something with a very, very low middle, i.e 5in or so from the toe - according to Crictech this is where I hit the ball, so I'm all for it.

Something with edges the size of the face of the bat weighing around 2.8, looking at some of the cherries on by bat at the mo I'll be making runs galore!

I wonder what a bat with no spine but 50-60 mm edges and bow would feel and perform like? essentially the whole bat from edge to edge is same thickness, not sure if it would work but be interesting...is it M&H who have a bat like that already?

A few of the Newbery's aren't far from that.

Oh ok maybe its newberys..a lot of bats have 60mm spine so was just wondering if the entire blade was 60mm

M&H Master doesn't have too much of a pronounced spine in comparison to the edges.
I guess the Newbery Tour is similar profile too!

essentially a scoop without the scoop. i did  consider this but was unsure how it would feel.obviously size would have to be reduced slightly to make the weights decent

My ultra @ 49-50mm edges is the maximum you can get from a standard cleft.

Do these have a decent bow Pete? I haven't seen one upclose so don't know but I think you would need a significant bow to make the bat pick up well!!

Pretty much yes!! I think wouldn't be a bad experiment.. bat would be a little thinner on top / DF/ Laver shape...mid-low to low middle..

I have just this morning had the pleasure of witnessing - up close and personal - some Red Ink beauties that await knocking in from Bilal and myself.  I have to say, John, they're lovely bats, congratulations on all your hard work! What's with the one with the tiny, thick handle, though? As this is my first sample of Red Ink, and the only three bats of theirs I've ever seen, I'd say my knowledge of their range is limited, but if a trend has started to emerge it's that they're all very concave.  I would therefore recommend trying something like the Mjolnir or the Halo / Flare and do something with no concaving at all.  Although concaving is very much in fashion at the moment, I think that as a start-up, boutique bat maker, you need to have something for everyone to give yourself the best chance of establishing a broad and varied customer base, so would highly recommend something with smaller edges and less / no concaving...

its for a friend of mine. he pretty much strangles the shoulder/base of the handle so wanted a mini one to stop the butt end hitting his wrists. he also likes 3 grips on it hence why its short and fat.

concaving on them  ranges. the pyro shapes do  have a bit of concaving, the LE is slightly less.
glad you like them. hope you enjoy knocking them in.

i am leaning towards a non concaved bat. wether that be completely traditional with thin edges and higher spine or the more modern flare style bat im  unsure at the moment. i did make a copy for a friend of mine. he had an old classic bat traditonal shape bat. must admit i did enjoy making that one
