Title: £11 pads
Post by: the little ripper on August 03, 2012, 02:59:30 PM
a few days ago on the eBay bargain spots link i posted this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180882593360?var=480136664821&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_2560wt_1139

Someone replied tat but i thought at £11 ill take a punt so then i googled ND cricket and found the same pads and they were retailing at £51 then I decided why not for £11. The pads that arrived were different than in the photos and I thought damn. But after wearing them, they feel really light and I went to my clubs net session with them and they were identical to my friends sf professional pads bar the colouring. Then at weekend i used them in a game and they felt great so overall in my opinion the punt I took paid off. I recommend them to anybody who is cash strapped and after a new pair of pads.

The main picture in this listing is their ambi pad for youths/boys. The mens pads are not ambi and are slightly different in design (which is the one you got). It's not very clear but I reached this conclusion after reading this thread and checking out all the different pics in this listing. Anyway I decided to purchase these based on the review. They got delivered to HK in approx 10 days which is pretty good.

BUT... I received a different pair of pads - their "Titanium" model: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-OC-Titanium-Professional-Cricket-Batting-Pads-Leg-Guards-Sizes-Mens-RH-LH-/180882594075?pt=UK_Protective_Equipment&var=&hash=item6fca601796#ht_2409wt_1141. A little disappointed as I liked the V-style middle strap on their "Gold" model. But these Titaniums seem to be decent in quality and actually cost £1 more than the Golds. They wrap around the leg very nicely and weight just over 1,600g for the pair. Haven't used them in the nets yet so not sure what the protection is like. But I agree they are a good choice for an economy pad.

They look good! Out of stock for the MRH ones though, which is a shame :(

The pads you ended up with look a lot nicer than the ones in the pictures.

To be honest, the pads I got are fine so I won't do that. I think they are still a bargain. They are probably similar in quality to the Golds anyway so don't think I've lost out. The only difference is the Titaniums I got don't have cane in them. So protection may be slightly inferior but probably lighter. For the bowlers I typically face, I don't need top-notch protection and would rather a lighter pad.
