Title: M&H Distinction MkII
Post by: BakarooBonzai on August 03, 2012, 08:58:32 PM
Thought I'd share my new arrival with you all.  Bought it from Paul at IJC and just arrived yesterday.  As always Paul was fantastic and made buying a joy, and that sale of his made this a no brainer.  Customs was another case, took 3 days including an inquiry from homeland security! Perhaps they have seen me play :)  Haven't hit a proper ball yet and I will update on the performance later.

Stats:
Weight: 2.11 (dressed)
Edges: 31mm
Spine: 67mm
Feel: Dreamy :)

Possibly a daft question, but what does the MkII signify?

MkII is mostly Grade 2 willow.

There is nothing like Grade 1+ in UK made bat - at least I have not see such grading on bats made in UK, NZ, Aus

MkII is grading, yes, and a big jump in price points.  We have only ever stocked the MkIIs because the MkIs are a tad overpriced in my book.  Also, having seen, and compared, both grades up close and personal, there really isn't that much to choose between them.

Thanks for posting this, Hima.  I appreciate your patience, too! I'm delighted, and relieved, that you finally got your kit - FEDEX have never grilled me so much, I can tell you!  You must indeed be a very aggressive batsman!  :D

Cosmetically it would be a grade 2, but I believe they still use rare oversized clefts for these bats.  I have seen some MkII's where it's better than some mass produced brands g1's.

Paul, thanks for your help with FedEx.  They were very curious about scuff tape, go figure.  By the way hit a few throw downs today, quite pleased so far.  Well worth the wait.

I thought they had a lower bulge too Matt. Thought the Amplus was there to cater for higher middles

Mk11 is there lower grade of bat, still the same shape as mk1. This is the same shape as last year. The 2010 model had the very low middle. They stopped making the low middle profile due to the toes breaking.

The amplus has thicker edges, smaller spine, high middle

So, FEDEX were fine with a massive beast of a bat, with a razor sharp, high spine and, to some extent, an equally imposing looking Ayrtek lid, but they were dubious about a scuff sheet and bat tape?!  :o I wish FEDEX employed more cricketers! Glad the bat has been responding well so far, Hima - keep me posted!

The tape, scuff sheet etc etc customs question is down to the latest fad in drug trafficking.... The 'makers' embed the powder into rolls of clear plastic..... No before you ask it's not a sideline of mine, just happened to see it on some tv doco.. !!!!
