Maybe if he gets hit with a 90mph Steyn bouncer in the next test and the Ayrtek does its job hopefully they will change their views. Also a high number of people I know keep calling it a 'Cycling helmet' and think the only real difference is "to keep your head cooler".

Dunno why people call it a cycling helmet as it does not look anybit like one as the peak is facing the opposite direction

i don't know about other but i think ayrteks look good, we have gotten so used to seeing Masuri's, albions etc that something different really stands out but does not mean its ugly...

Albion club mk 2 has been around since 2004 of not before and the masuri has remained constant for 15 years plus I'd think so why settle for the same shape when innovation and design suggests an improvement?

Beauty is the eye of the holder and all that.

I think if they were to try one on they might come round, i've always liked the shape and know it's best for protection but before trying on a friends ayrtek the other day did i really notice how much better the vision is with the narrow peak.

The GF has now been instructed to buy me one as a surprise for my bday end of the month :D

The peaking any longer than the other helmets we just took out the 90 angle that are on the others to stop the peak from flexing

Received precisely the same sledges yesterday, 'Victoria Pendleton' was one of the more topical names thrown at me. And with regards to Beefy and Warne's comments have they seriously never seen one these before?? I don't recall them saying anything about Sanga?

Funnily enough the company who designed the Olympic cycling helmets are just down the road from us as we were asked to look at it in regards to our liner lol

I'm not sure lol no idea what it is but the lads who designed it did a cracking job judging from all the gold medals our cyclists won!

On Cricinfo:

"Well, all James Taylor needs to do is turn his helmet around and, bingo! Time trialists cycling helmet." Indeed Josh - and he's that small, he should be fairly aerodynamic

I can't believe they haven't seen one before in first class cricket. I love mine, in fact I pulled the ball last week and ended up top edging on to my helmet, it saved my face but also ended up skimming my lid and going for 4 over slips  :D

No mark at all on my lid! Top stuff tom!

Shows the benefit of getting a product into the test match arena and the media spotlight that surrounds it! Also the fact we dared to be different ;)

Haven't heard a commentator chatting about Madrid new grille yet or the new bat etc since mongoose caused a stir :)

How come he doesn't wear it at short leg? Surely the Masuri fielding rill would fit onto it!

Not sure tbh prob just the standard fielding lid they take out rather than his own personal preference, perhaps we should get him one sorted out with the fiddling grille on it ;)

I am following the current match on cricinfo commentary and they've mentioned Taylor's helmet.

" "What's that thing on Taylor's head?" New wave helmets they call it I think...Jacques Kallis into the attack... "

I've sent in feedback to tell them it's an Ayrtek but it hasn't been published. Send in some commentary feedback if you get a chance guys!

As explained on the boxes about the features and why the shape is like it is...

Took one full whack in the grille today keeping and didn't feel a thing :D

Got a bit of stick as well, 'are they really the safest helmets, because there horrible' I said I'd like to see you get hit in the head in your terrible albion at a considerable speed and then see how a proper helmet protects you whilst I get hit in mine :)
