As revealed on Twitter yesterday, Matt Prior has decided to go retro, and will be using the "new" V12 bats at the Lord's Test.  The only problem is Slazenger didn't have any suitable grips to put on them!

It turns out we were the most local retailer to have Mr Prior's desired black chevrons in stock, and I have in fact just got back from the Home of Cricket having made a special, urgent delivery this morning!

Sadly, the England wicket keeper wasn't on hand to collect them from me in person, but they have been gratefully received by Slazenger and appear to have saved a few blushes their end!

So, with James Taylor's Ayrtek lid, and now Matt Prior's IJC grips, the CBF will have pretty good exposure at Lord's!  :)

Finally, in other news, the CBF30 clan will be emailed their personal 10% discount codes later today, so please look out for those, guys.

I agree,, great to be able to supply the grips... But I must be honest I hope to see very little of the Arytek and the V12... maybe a couple of balls each in each innings... ;)

I hope they will inspire Matt to another big score! I am actually quite nervous for him now.  I feel responsible because if he misses out, I am partly to blame!  :(

Yes, Matt, actually surprised myself by how quick the round trip was.  There and back in an hour and a half (including walking time).  Managed to open the shop on time as well!

Stick an extra couple of quid on the price of your remaining stock and label them as:

"PRO grips used by beardie-baldy England SUPERSTAR Matt Prior...."

The ECB obviously don't know their cricket communities.....

If he had got them 3 days ago would have saved them 30% off!

Sadly he (Slazenger) only got 5, and the total cost was therefore way under £40.  But, even though he's a "beardie-baldy England SUPERSTAR", he's not a member of the CBF, so he wouldn't have been entitled to that discount anyway!  :)

I was there on Thursday and saw him in the nets pre-match and none of his bats had black chevrons on....
Perhaps he's lost his grip cone ;)

Apparently Matt seems content with white grip at the moment, but I've been told that the production bats shall all be with black grip.  Not exactly sure what a "production bat" is ie. will it ever get used in an England game, but there you go - at least it wasn't a complete waste of time!
