Now I know several members of the forum aren't exactly enamoured with the razzmatazz of overseas T20 competitions however I find the prospect of bringing these Olympic track stars to the big bash to be quite intriguing and thought it to he worthy of discussion, so what do you forumites think about it?

Wild speculation and publicity seeking IMO
They arent exactly the shy and retiring types between them so any hype they can create the better, the Beast claiming he bowls at 8-90mph made me chuckle as well as Athers and Nasser tho!

Hype perhaps, but both men were known to be talented cricketers in their youth, Blake supposedly plays club cricket on a regular basis and bolt received praise for his bowling from both Walsh and Ambrose, a privilege that most quicks can only aspire to (myself included). But we'll have to wait and see, if they are indeed as menacing as made out to be those of us who intend to watch may be treated to quite a show ;)

I think it's a bit of a fad, to be honest. That being said, I'm sure you could pinch plenty of quick singles when you bat with them! :D
They'd be useful in the field too...

Wouldn't surprise me if it happened, was only a few years back Andrew Johns (Aus Rugby league player) played a couple of T20 games hoping to draw some more crowds.

Ironically during the game in which Bolt bowled Chris gayle he ran himself out attempting a quick single, I think he scored 12 including a 6 and a 4.

how is Bolt going to fit this into his schedule between playing for Man United????

To be fair, bolt isn't a quick starter - so I guess there will be quicker people between the wicket.
Would like to see this happen, maybe facing the likes of Levi, Warner etc.

Supposedly Blake only started athletics as his coach saw his speed when approaching the bowling crease thus suggesting he take up sprinting so who knows.

I would watch the game... Even if it was just to see one of them case the ball to the rope.... :o.

People are highly critical of IPL and I agree with a lot of it specially the non-cricketing aspect of IPL. To me this is similar, they are making it a joke, i know they did this in past too with some rugby/afl players but if Bolt/Blake play in BBL then tomorrow Madonna might want to be a cheerleader...
If they are that keen then play cricket more regularly at a good level and "qualify" / earn your spot like other cricketers do...you don't see cricketer showing up at track and field asking to take part...

If the cricketer can run 100m in sub 10s I don't see why not, Andre Russell ran it in 10.45 in his youth, that's rapid if he had stuck to athletics he could've been one of the medalists now!

Loving it! This guy can actually play cricket! Will be expecting to see Bolt and Blake lap their fellow batsman running between the wickets! Hopefully they wont end up with run outs being at the same end too often!! :)
