Title: Kookaburra Kahuna 400
Post by: langer17 on August 19, 2012, 11:34:15 AM
Went into GCCC today to have a look as I was in the area. Ended up taking a liking to a massive Kahuna 400 they had - 2lb9oz's (good pick up) with 41 mm edges and felt decent off the mallet. Went through a phase where I didn't really look at lower end bats, but you can always find the odd bat that is a steal, which I think this is. Will just use it in nets/against the bowling machine (unless it develops into a beauty of course) to save my Blenheim.

This bat was bigger than all their other models, with only 1 players bat and another 400 almost matching it for size and weight, which I was surprised at. Isn't the best looking bat, but it only has a few small imperfections and has 7/8 wonky grains, other than that it is clean. I thought that it would be a dud as it didn't look bad and was massive, but it was decent out of the middle and just OK every where else, but certainly not a dud. The spine is also slightly to one side (around 5mm). The thing that surprised me was that there was a Players bat there, that didn't look the best, was smaller and felt very similar off the Mallet, so I don't know what was going on there.

Certainly not an awesome bat, but it is huge and light, and for what it is (Grade 3/4) I think it's pretty good.

Is there any difference between UK Kahuna and Oz Kahuna in terms of positioning of the middle ?
