Well.
My name is Alvaro and I am a willow addict; I do not know what has happened to me this year but I have gone bat-buying crazy. I had resolved to buy nothing else this year until It's Just Cricket's fantastic Olympic offer came along. After a long period of agonising I decided that Trypewriter's Salix was the way to go, but snoozed so to speak - I am delighted it looks a gun bat though :)
Further to this I struck up an email conversation with Paul over the remaining bats he had in stock, particularly the Willo Stix that he speaks so highly of. It became a bit of a obvious outcome I'm afraid, I am a complete sucker for the engraved front of these bats and, being a fan of 'them days' with the attendant cigarette cards and Pathe film, a sucker for the classic look this bat has.
In short, along with the excellent customer service received, I finally decided to go with the bat because it's a beautiful piece of willow. The shape is bordering on standard Asian, with a bit of concaving, but I am a fan of this. The bat is 2.9, the quality of willow is high (the grains have that lovely almost-purple colour to them) and it's really lovely to look at, pick up and packs a fair old punch, I'll tell you... I also paid for it to be knocked in and the It's Just Cricket service is top - not a seam mark in sight after a scuffsheet-free net.
All in all, this is a lovely bat, which is a bit different and I'm glad I took a punt - if it hadn't been for the great forum offer I would not own such a stonking bat.
Gush over, here be pics:

Nice !. Love the extra special sticker.
-
You used it in a net or anything yet mate? Whats the performance like?
-
I've netted with it today against old balls - it comes off really nicely. Needs to be match-readied but can't fault the prep from Paul.

Wow that is special ! :D

Hello nurse....

Hello nurse....
Seymour? ;)

Grains look lovely, look like they are protruding thru the scuff.
-
There is no scuff, but they do really stand out.

Schting!

I love that bat!
It is identical to the Gray-Nic Legend in my opinion, the profile, the balance, the pick up and the quality.
Worth the Sterlings.. :)

looks nice, love that branding for the sticker
not a clean enough face for it to be a Limited Edition but it looks great.
Ive ditched anti scuff sheets in favour of fibreglass bat tape ..... works a treat and very easy to peel off.

It's clean enough for me (I like the odd butterfly speck - my Blueroom has one too).
Pickup, size and performance I can't complain about.

These bats are really good (even with my obvious willostix connections). I had one of these when they first come out, still my match bat and in its second season now, far too good a bat for a slogger like me. I really like the engraved look too - im sure you'll enjoy this bat mate!

tapped ths up earlier this year - really sweet willow

Ah hopefully mine is as good as your's if not better ;)

see absolutely nothing wrong with the quality of that willow and looks a lovely bat.

I concur. Thanks all for the positive comments.
Tis a lovely blade :)

Looks a cracker and to my eye slightly bigger edges than most of these that I've seen, which for the weight suggests it might go a bit. Enjoy! ;)

Thanks for this review, Steve. Delighted the initial net went well and that you like the bat.
I noticed a discussion on another thread about a bat maker's brand identity being important to success. Willostix is a paradigm case. They have only been on the market for a couple of years, but thanks to such innovative, stylish branding like this, they are starting to make a real name for themselves. Of course, the fact that they make excellent performing bats such as this also helps!
They may not be a bespoke company, but they are proof that quality branding + quality bats = success!
