Title: Worcs v Warks
Post by: tim2000s on September 04, 2012, 11:47:03 AM
I know I wouldn't want to be playing for Worcs right now. 60ao off 28.4 isn't too impressive...

With batsmen 3,4,5,6 making 5 runs! Shocking!

Their batting's been totally reliant on Hughes and Ali all season, with the occasional knock from Mitchell or Solanki. With Solanki offski over the winter and their only decent bowler being 37 things don't look too healthy down new Road way these days.

Ali has averaged 23 this season. The highest average excluding overseas players, is Mitchell at 27. Very poor!

Indeed,

Worcs have been out of their depth this season. Lots of young players there though - they have over achieved in the past couple of seasons I think anyway with getting promoted and then staying up.

Doesn't help when they've had to make a massive un-scheduled payments over the past couple of season in sorting their ground due to the floods. In which they haven't been able to get any great calibre of players.

And Warks equal the Worcs score with the loss of no wickets inside 20 overs... Not a demon track then!

I believe it was over £1m when it flooded very badly a couple of years back as well. Since then they haven't been able to sign many exciting players and are relying on the youth set up greatly at the moment

you wish them well though, for all the water issues the game would be a worse place without a cold beer on a hot day at the county ground!
