Best player, most improved player and something else, but I never go, as both the saturday and sunday teams at my club are treated like they don't exist.

we have a few
1st team bat and bowler, 2nd team bat and bowler, clubman of the year, youngster of the year, midweek batting, midweek bowling. players player for both teams. think thats about it.

last year we also introduced an award for the most stupid thing of the season. can be anything. last year it was shared by 2 players. one for pretending to run off the final ball of a game which we needed to survive to draw and getting himself run out by a country mile - we still have no idea what he was trying. he claims he was hoping they would shy at the stumps and it go for overthrows. think we needed 5 to win with 10 and 11 in. the second for getting a taxi back to the wrong hotel on tour, losing his mobile phone at said hotel and managing to give his belt to a complete stranger who neither knew the reason why she was being given his belt or actually wanted it. think she took it out of pity and then binned it lol

We have the usual best batsmen/bowler awards in each XI (minimum requirement applies - warning, interest rates can vary!)
Plus the Captains player of the year, best allrounder, and most improved player. Then the best Colt, etc.
The Captains award tends to be the player who is always at nets, always available for a game and helps out at games and giving lifts, etc. So more the keenest and most enthusiastic! We always enjoy that award as the Captain gives a speech and it's the last award, so he's usually trollied by then which makes the speech funnier but hard to understand if he's really slurring badly!  8)

Even though I moved south in early August I might be in for a bowling award at my old club with 44 wickets. Pissed off I've missed the league qualification for bowling by 2 wickets:-

WCL Div 6 Bowling Figures - 64.3-22-96-23 (not 25 wickets needed) - Average 4.17 (it's done on average and I would've walked it  >:()

Blame the 2nd XI captain for not bowling me early enough and of course the rain :-(

Maybe at a standard lower than your ability Nick? Not making any assumptions or implications there, just not really sure! Haha

We do:

Best Bat, Fielder & Bowler (T-20 )
Best Bat, Fielder & Bowler (40 Ovr)

Most improved player, This one is usually reserved for newcomers to cricket who have played a full season and they really do appreciate it too..

yes it was but i knew i was going and wanted to help the 2s as it was their first season of cricket, or i wasnt good enough for our 1s lol . it also coincided with my change to bowling spin, which seems to have brought a glut of wickets. next season ought to more of a challenge at my new club.
