Title: Bat 'wish list' for 2013
Post by: petehosk on September 14, 2012, 03:35:16 PM
With the Lords Show on Monday, and Twickenham Show just finished, I was wondering what people have their eye on from the Shows or even from an older range?
There will be an onslaught of new bats photos from the Shows, both on this forum and the CI forum. So post you wishes, your desires, your likes and dislikes. And whether you will be looking at buying or whether the new possible purchase will just be a desire and nothing more?

I will kick off with the impression so far. I am not massively keen on any of the GM or Kookaburra bats from the photos, but it's not always easy to judge from photos! I should have a better idea after Monday what other bats I may be a little tempted by!
So for for 2013, I will only be (extremely) tempted by a SAF Hades, although after Monday there may be 1 or 2 more?  :-[

Dynadrive and Puma Plat Black Edition look interesting!

So is everyone just thinking about these bats or will they eventually end up in your kit bag?

Dynadrive is the only one for me, and I might have done a bit more than just dream...

I would be interested in H4L Tempo, first to see what the shape is and then may be buying it. BB have been in the back of my mind for some time now so it would depend on how much more gear i want or if i see anything that i like..

GN, GM & kook I will pass this year except for dynadrive...

I will be buying a Laver after I get married. I'd also like a Distinction.

paceman...the only reason Tim is being smug about only getting a dynadrive is because he already has anb absolute gun of a Hades! Sounds like SAF and IJC may be pretty busy with the Hades and the Dynadrives!  ;)

I can't really see me podding out again, but if I was I think I'd be looking at one of Paul Aldred's or maybe something from Vantage.

Of course, Rob Pack's look great too, and I was impressed by the Red Ink LE that I very briefly had in my hands - and it would be nice to compare a Salix Praestantia to the Pod that I recently bought, and.... Oh bugger!

Only pre made bat I would like to get my hands is a Dynadrive. But I would prefer to have a day out at a quality bat makers workshop to have a bat made for myself.. From picking the willow (with some help) to sticking the labels on.. That would be it... As for other gear well that's another story..

You wont go far wrong with a SAF, also helps that Andy knows what he's talking about.

This gives a good idea of amount of concaving... it obviously gets more concaved as you start moving up from the toe.. (Pics from H4L Blog)..going to guess its at least 10-15mm of concavin at the max spine height, could be more...

Not usually a fan of too much concaving but I really love that. It's the closest thing I have seen to an early model Distinction. I've seen a lot of people offer a Distinction style bat but very few actually deliver....this does. I want one.  :D Hmmm....Dynadrive or Tempo...? Decisions, decisions! I'll think about it over the Winter!

I carelessly misread your post and thought you said a concave was a hollow cavity. So forgive my being dreadfully obtuse but  the very origin of the word concave suggests a hollow. Thus linking a scoop and a concave shape through your definition. Again apologies for misreading your post.
