Title: A couple of beautiful Blank Bats!
Post by: The_Bird on September 24, 2012, 06:21:09 PM
So i've been clinging on to my Newbery Thruxton 5 Star (stickered as a GT after a refurb) for 3 years and its served me very well. It feels so perfect in my hands and last pre season i struggled to use any other bat. Its seen off a GM Luna original, a Laver PB and a Redback Paradox LE. However i am now at the terrible stage where i feel its on its last legs and whilst still flying, i fear the end is nigh.

My club mate (Alba Caerulea) has been using a BB for the whole season and it has just taken off recently, so it got me thinking about a BB.
He then turns up at a committee meeting with a Huge T20 bat that he again got through BB, the whole room was in awe as it was passed around and every waft generated a pleasing grin.

That evening i made my mind up and got in touch with Blank Bats via the forum.

So i contacted Tai and told him what shape i was after, He then sent me pics of these two bats to choose from. they are a slightly different shape to my thruxton but both pick up superbly well. Tai gave me a bit of background on both bats and i found out they had been in the shop at the swalec which didnt bother me but nice that he was honest enough to mention they could have a few bumps on. i liked them both so much i took a punt and got both of them.

Bat 1 (Orange stickers/White grip)

2'9

low middle and a similar shape to my Thruxton but slightly bigger numbers with 35mm edges and a 55mm spine.
12 straight grains and a Oval handle. This bat taps up very nicely with throw downs,
thats all it's had so far and im confident this will be my match bat for next year.

Bat 2 (Red/Black stickers/Blue grip)

2'7

Slightly higher middle more a GT shape but i'll use this for the indoor league. It has identical specs with 35mm edges and a 55mm spine.
11 straightish grains, Oval handle. I've not used this as yet but it picks up like a feather. its a lovely shape!!

So in conclusion a massive thanks goes out to Mike and Tai, the whole Blank Bats customer service experience was superb and
i felt very much looked after throughout the transaction. Considering the price i paid for them i would've done very well to get 1 brand new Sps grade bat let alone 2.

I will update this review when ive used the bats.

I used this properly (bat 1) for the first time this morning and it felt lovely. Very pleased with my Blank Bat!!

Only 55 mph half volleys but it was a very late night and an even earlier morning....

Bat 2 looks amazing. 2.7 with a mid profile is something I would get along with very well. And no concaving. I like it, I like it a lot... Well done mate. Hope you score lots of runs with them!

Thanks mate, I may sell the lighter one as I doubt it will get used that much. It's a stunning bat and the shape is spot on.

Yeh you're right mate, I should have said minimal concaving. And Bat 2 has just a touch less concaving than Bat 1.
