Have a new blog set-up so that people can learn a little more about the Ayrtek brand and theory behind the helmet design etc as well as reading my mindless ramblings.....

delete the post at the bottom of the page welcome message from wordpress other than that :) good job

I watched this http://ayrtekcricket.wordpress.com/2012/09/25/ayrtek-promo-video/ and transfered the chaps voice to Morgan Freeman and enjoyed it immensely
-
you wouldnt believe the sheer size of the guy that did the voiceover haha
-
who did the timings on the video? lol
-
not me, left that to someone else as not my area of expertise!
worst day to do the filming though as was soaking wet and we had all been on a jolly at wormsley the day before with a free bar!

What always puzzles me about the Barker vid is obviously the fact he was wearing an Ayrtek softened the impact. as Bumble says compared to what happened the previous week with the ball going through the grill to Pollard it's easy to see the Ayrtek stood up far better.
So why then does does barker put on a Albion? Surely that defies the point?

Probably didn't have a spare ayrtek or grille in the hut...
-
Once a knock like that has occurred, surely a new helmet is needed.
Just like replacing a motorcycle helmet after a crash.
Price of a helmet is nothing compared to a broken head.
I am definitely getting an ayrtek for next season.
-
Just out of curiosity, did Barker give you any feedback, or have you had a look at the helmet to see how it stood up in the 'real world' situation?
-
I'm pretty sure there's a topic on here somewhere with that barker grill in it, with pictures taken by Tom.
-
Helmet is on the shelf in the office, will take a few new pics on Monday for the blog nice back in the office.
Featured the grille weld at the front but apart from that no other signs of damage. Spoke to keith and the quote he provided cant really be used in the public domain lol he was glad he had the lid on tho needless to say!

I used my ayrtek helmet in last game..even though i love my GN legend , Ayrtek felt nice
The only thing i experienced was i was sweating more...one reason it was to hot ..90 F
not sure of it will be a good idea to have a removable towel kind of padding inside which can be washed and re-attached
just a thought ...and sorry of this was not the right post to discuss it

Actually such thing already exist :)
Ayrtek offer soft removable padding, they can be easily applied and then peeled off (and washed). They come in a pack of four by Ayrtek, I have two spare which are brand new if you want I can post them to you, I won't need anything for them.
Just let me know :)

Ive seen the barker lid, like tom said. apart from the broken weld on the grille there was no issues. if that was a masuri it would be in pieces, well so would barker! lol
-
Tom I'm sure alot of people including me would love to see ayrtek create a kind of aero style wicket keeping faceguard at a reasonable price ( aeros were £50 rrp which was great)

Wils this maybe great it's been done by aero so were not the type of company to reproduce what someone has already done...plus the act it would involve a hefty tooling cost to have them made which would mean having to sell them in volume to recover this fee plus a profit.
The price of titanium and steel is on the up as some companies trade price for their Ti grills are more than the RRP for ours!!!
