Why is it barely any professional use salix's? any ideas
-
I don't know but I thought they got bats blank from companies like Salix and then sticker it up with their sponsors stickers
-
they might use the bats - they just don't use the stickers... ;)

Still why not the stickers? they're like the only off the shelf companies stickers you never see

They used to sponsor Sam Northeast who plays for Kent - they sponsored him from a very young age if I remember correctly. But Salix are not a massive company and I don't suppose they want to fork out a massive amount of money to sponsor Internationals.
Colts get sponsorship at a young age. And then, if the Colt is vert decent and becomes a County and International player, then they will obviously get tempted by the big bucks offered by some of the big fish! You can't blame them!! If you are a high profile player and get the offer of free kit form one sponsor, or free kit and £50k from the other, then it's obvious which people will go with!

Ahh that would be it, but i thought salix we a big brand?

Mid sized I'd say, they don't really turn out as many bats as several other brands. A good marker for size of the brand is to see what u13-16 are using, most are gray nics or kooka, that being said a lot of the junior county players use brands like salix and Bradbury.

They are a reasonable sized custom brand and in my experience, very good quality and excellent finishing!
But in comparison to GM, Gray Nics, SS, Kookaburra, etc, they are tiny and they would financially cripple themselves trying to attract big players! And why risk it if they are already seen as high quality and can keep up with demand!
If the demand doubled or tripled then the additional outlay to increase production would be mental, not to mention the risk to their high standards and quality they currently have.
And I'm sure they are happy with where they are in the market!
