Title: How wet is to wet?
Post by: toby176 on October 13, 2012, 10:45:05 AM
As I took the crease today, there was something different about the whole situation.

It was Pi$$ing down with rain. The game was still competitive when I went in, but the wet made it hard to take it to them.

So I am wondering, as you guys get a fair bit of rain over there, how do you know when to head into the pavilion?

Also, unsure if this is in the right area!  :D

It is almost never too wet to play if you are a real man. However people tend pussy out when it moves from drizzle to proper rain. However I have played in rain for 6 hours to finish games. Generally it depends how mad the captains are!

Generally down to the bowlers and whether they can stay upright.

It's basically down to whether the bowler can keep the ball dry enough to hold onto it...

Our cup semi final was played with puddles on the outfield, when they were batting, second.

We were batting in that sort of rain for probably 45 minutes, and then it eased off a little. But It just seems a little crazy to me!
We were playing on an artificial pitch, so it was a slightly different scene, but still a poor one at that. What happens to your bat in these conditions? :(

Ask stewie_kidd about a game we played against each other when I was in the uk...it was raining like in that photo prior to the game, through there entire innings and then we went out to bat in it before it finally got called off! Was crazy!

Yeah sure was. Ive never been so cold in my life haha. Did manage to get some assistance from the wet skiddy wicket and nail one of there batsmen in the lid though :-)

Then put there opening bowler over the ropes for 6....was about this time it got called off sadly!
